Sounds like you need a new one. If theres a disk in there which you need you will see a very small hole on the front of it which is an emergency eject. I normally straighten out a paper clip and poke it in. A new DVD copier is only about $25 and very easy to install only 2 plugs which can only go in one way. If youre not confident doing it yourself its only about 10 mins work so any shop should not charge too much. Cheers and please vote

My dvd player is stuck on one dvd and wont let me eject, change disc, or even stop the current dvd. display reads "locked" whenever i press any buttons. can only turn on and off the device.

Hi, For some reason the disk will not play. You push the eject button over and over again, but the disk slot will not open. Here's one solution...
* 1 Turn off the DVD player. Wait a few minutes, turn the DVD player back on, and
then press the "eject" button. If this does not work, turn it off and unplug
the DVD player...while you keep pushing EJECT button plug the DVD and turn it on (your hand still on the eject..) is should come out..
* 2 ..if it does not eject , unplug the DVD player again, Remove the screws off DVD on the sides and take off the DVD casing.
* 3 Look for the DVD holder inside the DVD player. This device holds the DVD in
place while the DVD player reads the disk.
* 4 Push the stuck DVD disk toward the front of the DVD player until the DVD
ejects. Remember the DVD player is not on and some force ( gentle ! ) must be applied.
* 5 While it is open, plug it on and place a DVD disc just to see if mechanism works properly..
* 6 Replace the casing and the screws. Plug the player in and turn it on. Put
another DVD in to test whether the player is finally working ..
Hope this helps!..
Take care and please

My dvd drive doesnt reconise disks when they are in the drive

2 things that u have to check
1) Is your DVD disks damage so u cannot read it?
2) Is your DVD drive spoil so cannot read your DVD?

To check condition 1), u may try insert other "good" DVD to make sure your DVD drive may read it. If your DVD drive can read other DVD so this mean your current DVD disks are damage.
To check condition 2), u may try load your DVD disks using other laptop. If your DVD show readable on other laptop, then this mean your current DVD drive is spoil or may have poor lens sensibility. Try to clean your DVD drive or replace a new 1 if necessary.

Cant get my acer to burn dvds it doesnt reconise the blank disk

Ok, Here the issue, A lot DVD media are out side not good. To use your burner try to install original software came with it(Poss.NERO)
If you can't try to use older version, Vista is not working for most burners. You need XP. ALso look for dvd43 and install it. You need this.
You may also need some codecs that works with burners, Media as Taiyo Yuden suggested. check smartmediacom for more informations.Specially media troubles section.

My pioner dvd dr 1120 d wont reconise blank dvd's

Open it with NERO softwer and add some files to burn, down at the right end of window (nero's) have a line that says how much space on disc there is.
Simple as this, I just caimed from my DVD dealer and he explained to me, Empty disc will always say 0 Bytes but if you open Nero Burner you'll be able to se how much of space is free on scale, after and whille adding files to burn image.
Hope you understand me :)
