Crush24,

Your unit is older and probably needs a new belt and a good cleaning and lubrication. You can get the belt here http://1200s.com/Store/p10000368/Technics_SL-BD22_Drive_Belt_Replacement/product_info.html . To replace the belt you will need to remove the platter and while in there you can clean the spindle bearing and motor as well as re-lubricating the motor and spindle shaft. You will need a can of Blue Shower Degreaser, available at http://www.mcmelectronics.com/ as well as lint free wipes and a good oil designed for electronics. To remove the platter you will have to remove a "C" clip on the spindle, below the rubber mat on the surface. Once removed the platter should slide right off the spindle. Using the blue shower spray any turning surfaces as well as both ends of the drive motor. The blue shower will not hurt anything and is the best to remove any grease or dirt. Once all parts are clean and dry apply a small amount of lubricant and reassemble the entire assembly. You will have to remove the rubber mat to access a slot in the platter to hook the belt to the platter using a small flat screwdriver. This should make your unit run as good as new if this was the only problem and the motor did not have more serious issues. Generally after years of use this is the most common problem.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

How do i find a turntable cartridge technics headshell SL-BD22

The SL-BD22 turntable's tonearm does not have a headshell. It takes a P-mount (otherwise known as a T4P) cartridge which plugs directly into the end of the arm.

How do i install a belt on technics turntable sl-bd22

If you remove the rubber pad, you should be able to grasp the metal table. A gentle tap onto the center spindle while pulling up on the table should release the table. Place the new belt onto the underside of the table. Replace the table onto the spindle. Then feed the belt over the motor hub.

The platter on my 15 year old SL-BD22 turntable does not move when I move the tonearm into postion to play a record. Do I need a new motor? If so, where can I find the original equipment, what will it...

Not certain you will need a new motor - yet- !
First since the arm movement turns on the turntable some kind of switch must come into play. These break or move out of poistion, so check that first. The access I suspect will be through the base of the turntable.
As most of these types of turntables use a 12 volt motor, you can attach a 9 volt battery to it's terminals and that should make it spin. If it's dead sluggish or doesnn't spin fast or at all, it's dead. If it does spin then there's something up with the power supply section to it.

How to replace drive belt for model.# SL-BD22 ?

Nope, very simple...

1) Remove the platter - just lift up
2) Underneath the platter, you'll see a small lip section
3) Wrap the belt around this lip
4) Put platter back on turntable
5) Rotate platter until you see the motor shaft through the holes on the platter - a brass round looking piece
6) Pinch the belt around the motor shaft.
7) That's it.
