I need a replacement for the USB2.0 cable to tranfer videos from the camcorder to a PC. What model do I need and where can I find one?

What make and model camcorder? If it uses a memory card of some type, have you considered NOT using the USB connection? The best way to download videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

Hi,
supplied USB cable with camcorder part number is QAM0719-001 and available for $11 and another 3 feet USB cable part number QAM0538-001 is also available for $11, both will work with JVC GZ-MG330RU camcorder.
Hope this will help.
Thanks.

I can not tranfer video files from JVC GR-DVX 400EG to pc.

If you have a DVD recorder/player with DV in put, you can buy a FireWire 4 pin male cable from a good audio/video shop which can connect to the DV socket on the camcorder. I got mine from Maplins only last week and at last I am saving the tapes to DVD.
Follow the DVD recorder booklet instructions and note every time you stop recording it will be saved as a separate file.

Here is a link to make sure you have the proper drivers. Also, Sony recommends (for your specific camcorder and operating software) that you transfer with the use of an i-link cable versus usb.

Canon zr500

The ZR500 has a firewire port that is best for tranferring video to your pc, so a firewire cable would be needed -- and you would need a firewire card in your pc to accept it. It might also have a USB port (don't have it in front of me right now). I've never used USB to transfer video, but I think it would work fine.

HOw to transfer video to PC

The camera should work fine in XP without a driver (none exist except for Mac OS). The problem sounds like it could be the transfer cable - are you using the original one? Some of these cables are specific for certain models. Even if the cable looks the same and actually plugs in correctly, a standard replacement may not work. If you can give me details of your location, I can try and source an original cable for you if you need it. Try the camera on another PC to see if you get the same message, and try every cable you have or can borrow. Hope this helps :)
