Hi, you drain it out of the dipstick filler hole by tipping the mower to that side. Remove the sparkplug cap first as a safety precaution. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Change oil

Most older walk behind mowers have a plug on the underside of the deck that a 3/8 ratchet will fit in. the newer ones have you tip the mower to drain out the fill/dipstick tube. Capacity is around a 1/2qt (16oz) for most mowers. Please ask if you have any other questions.

How to change the oil in my MTD 6.5h Honda yardman

Many mower engines no longer have a drain plug, or the plug is covered by the deck or other components, the best way is to suck the oil out via the oil filler, there are plenty of inexpensive vacume pumps availble that makes the job easy, check out the dealers or e bay.

Describe your Yard - Man 160cc, 21" Self - Propelled Lawn Mower Problem i don't know where oil drain plug is

You'll find most Briggs and Statton Engines have an oil drain plug directly on the bottom of the engine. It is square and can be removed with a 3/8" ratchet with no socket on it (you just stick the ratchet or ratchet with extension right in the hole and turn it CCW. When you put it back in, make it tight, but not too tight or you'll crack the block of your engine (trust me!). Some engines such as the Honda's do not have an oil drain plug and you need to just dump the oil right out of the fill spout. Awkward. Your engine will hold between 20 and 22 oz of straight 30 WT oil; do not overfill it. Put in about 20 oz. and let it sit for a few minutes then check it on your dipstick. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.
PS: Always remove the spark plug wire before working on your engine! Turning the blade by hand could start your engine and cut your hand off!

Oil change

Most push mowers, you just take out the filler plug and turn it on it's side to drain.Set the mower up on blocks so it rests 6-8" off the ground, place a large catch pan underneath for the oil.

Oil change in yard man lawn mower. i am unable to find a drain plug

Some mowers are designed to drain oil out of the dipstick tube. remove dipstick and tilt the mower to allow oil to run out into a drain pan. 2/3 rds of a quart or 20 oz is what to expect.

Like the other guy says drain the oil out. Disconnect the spark plug wire (for safety). Place the mower onto a stable platform to work from. To remove the drain plug usually you need a 3/8 ratchet and I use a short extension so I don't skin my knuckles. Put the extension end into the drain plug and remove. Have a drain pan to catch the used oil. Clean the area around drain plug first. When oil is drained replace the drain plug and tighten. Add your new oil. ONLY ADD ABOUT 15 OUNCES. Use SAE 30 motor oil. Once you get the oil in set it on a flat surface and check for the proper level. Add if needed. Usually the push mowers only use about 16 ounces. I start with 15 because it is easier to add than remove the oil. Replace the spark plug wire, prime and start. It may smoke awhile to get the old oil burnt up.

How to change oil and where i put the oil in to the lawn mower mtd 3.5hp / 20

Warm up the engine so the oil will flow out. Push the handle to the ground and either have someone stand on it or wedge it underneath something to hold it down. Disconnect spark plug!! Remove blade. Place a drain pan underneath mower (one that's shallow enough to lower the mower down on) and using a 3/8 extension on a ratchet, stick the square end of the extension in the drain plug in the bottom of the engine and unscrew. Lower mower back down for a couple of minutes then reverse proceedure. I think it holds about 20 oz. of oil. Put in 18 oz. and check it. Be sure not to overfill.
