Question about Holmes Products HWH2605-U Heater

Open Question

HWH-2605 Water Filled Heater w/adjustable settings. We have developed a problem with the manual settings. The heater worked fine up through February when it got warmer. We put it away and then got colder weather off and on thru March to now. We tried to turn on the heater last night and set it at Low (Low-High) and turned the variable knob to the middle. After about 2 hours we checked it and there was not heat radiating off the veins. The light showed it was on but no heat! We turned it to HIGH and still no heat. I thought maybe the "tipping" switch had stuck in the off position, so rocked the unit back a forth a few times but to no avail. Is there something wrong with the switches or rheostat ??? Is this something I can fix by replacing one of the switches???

SOURCE: HWH-2605 Water Filled Heater w/adjustable

Hi,
The only way to tell for sure what is wrong would be to use an electrical meter and troubleshoot all of the switches, the thermostat and the heating elements... If you do not use a meter and find out exactly what the problem is then you run the risk of buying parts that you do not need.
Find someone that can hands on go through the circuitry and find the exact cause of the problem.

What is the part number for replacement of Mode switch? It caught on fire and was the only item damaged.

Adjusting water level on hot water heater

The water heater should be filled to the top at all times, there is no water level adjustment. The relief valve is probably failing and needs replaced.

Hotwater heater new won't heat??

Is water inside tank Hot?
Open TP valve and also open drain valve.
If tank is hot, then you might have plumbing problem caused by bad faucet cartridge or check valve.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html

Red reset button is located on upper thermostat.
Test for 120Volt across top two screws on upper thermostat.
You might have a bad upper thermostat.
If electric water heater has some hot water, then upper element is good.
Electrician should enjoy following page full of information.

Are the hot and cold pipes reversed on top of tank?
Usually the cold water line has shut-off valve.
Top of tank is marked H and C

Bosch GWH 715 ES flashing EA code. This unit was working fine for over a year so I am assuming gas pressure can't be the problem? The spark is flashing and the unit lights for about 2 seconds then...

Above are the manuals required to diagnose and service your error code.

EA: No flame ionization detected with water flow.
Verify that all manual gas shut off valves are open. Check gas type. Reset error code and open a water tap to cycle the heater in an effort to purge air on new installations. Cycling hot water tap on and off multiple times may be necessary. If heater still faults with EA error code, have a licensed gas technician properly purge air out of the gas line leading to the water heater. Check three wire connections to ignition group on the lower front of the heat exchanger are secure. Check gas pressure. Check venting specifications are met. Improper venting may cause premature failure of the flame sensor rod. Check that the minimum power fan speed has been adjusted to the proper value. Observe inside the viewing window of the heat exchanger when a hot water tap is opened. Sparking should be followed by a steady blue flame. If flame is unstable or yellow with proper gas pressure.

There is a high pitched constant sound coming from behind the electric water heater......no water leakages, I turned off the electric and it continued. I ran the hot water for a long time.......it did...

Read following technical bulletin from Rheem:

Find age of water heater:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/WaterHeaterSerialNumberDecoder.pdf

There is no valve inside the tank.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-it-works.html
The constant noise sounds like water heater is running full time, except same sound after electric was turned off. Is there a check-valve nearby? What happens when you open-close shut off valve located on cold water line above tank?
Is there a water leak inside house, or is TP valve running water into a drain line?

Need to relight Rheem hwh. Have not seen unit, but believe it is electric.

electric heaters dont need to be light because they dont use gas, the power is off to the heater or the thermastat is bad or the heating element is bad. call the manufacture and get free customer service and support over the phone.

Have a Rheem 81V30D HWH...works fine..How to set 2 thermostats??

Adjust each thermostat (one under the lower front cover, one under the upper front cover) at the same indication (thermostats may not have degree marks but warm, hot, very hot or A, B, C). Turning the screw clockwise is hotter. For safety sake, turn off the circuit breaker for the water heater at the house electric panel before removing thermostat covers.
