    This looks like a problem with the maybe the CPU, something on the PCI bus, or maybe memory. If you are familiar with poking around in the hardware I would first try carefully blowing or vacuuming out any dust from the motherboard and re-seating your memory. This may be all it takes to fix your problem.

    If the problem is still present after re-seating the memory, we can try to determine if you have some bad memory. I'll go into that after you've tried the next step.

    Next, remove any PCI cards except maybe your video card and see if you still get the error. If the problem goes away, then we're making some progress. Get rid of any dust in the PCI card cage and reinstall any PCI cards that you removed. If the problem comes back, we'll have to eliminate the PCI cards one by one. If it doesn't come back, problem solved...

    Let me know how this goes. Good luck!

SOURCE: DS10 with SBS PCI Expansion

Version 7.1-2 is an older version of the OS. I will have to check, but I think that V7.2 will resolve this. What version of TCP/IP are you using? Back in the day when I supported TCP and VMS, there were some timing issues that causes odd behavior. If you can provide the details about your configuration, I can check and get back to you. If necessary, an examination of a forced crashdump may be needed.

A rare opportunity to work with VMS again!!

Good stuff.

SOURCE: an error code jfb0 Bus

replace or remove whatever ram chip is faulty, that error refers to a crc check on ecc memory. Or you could just turn off ecc parity checking in the bios. But that simply defeats the object of having ecc memory in the first place

IP address change needed on a AlphaServer DS10

First, identify the NIC you wish to change; use:

$ MC LANCP <ret>

> SHOW DEVICE

Next, use the menu driven utility "TCPIP$CONFIG", to set your desired IP address etc:

$ @TCPIP$CONFIG <ret>

Option 1 - core environment

Option 2 - Interfaces (then select your NIC or the IP Addr to change)

Option 2 - add/change a Primary address on *** (where *** is your NIC).

If we use the server without PCI-PCIe Raiser card, it can boot into the OS. However, it cannot boot into the OS when we install the PCI-PCIE Raiser Card into the sever, and it alerts message error as...

The problem seems to be 2 things..

1.) firstly send the boot priority in the bios to HDD 0 or the harddrive connected directly to the board with the os.

2.) second thing, the Raiser Card, if it has raid Harddrrives connected via the ext. one of the raid harddrives connected to it is malfunctioning , remove and disable one at a time until u find the correct one. Or it could be the Card itself is malfunctioning.

I'm guessing here that you have a IDE card connected to the Raiser card with raid harddrives on it, One of them is malfunctioning.

E139761 reset bios

Hello,

It's possible your new card may be bad. Remove the new card from the server and try to restart. If it starts, get a new AGP card, If not, make sure the new card is fully seated in the slot and no and your top is replaced back fully. (In case you have intrusion detection enabled.)

Good Luck

IBM server dc can't boot due to system32\drivers\pci.sys missing

You mention on boot that the server shows a logical drive of 158GB, which obviously means the server is detecting the drives ok.

Quite often Windows doesn't have the correct drivers to support systems using RAID controllers such as IBM ServerRaid, so this is probably why the setup CD states "No HDD detected, press F3 to reboot". When the Windows Setup CD Boots, it should at some point (on the blue screen) at the bottom of the screen state something like "Press F6 to load additional drivers". If you can get the correct drivers from IBM website, and load them by pressing F6, Windows should be able to see the drives ok. Hopefully it will then be able to successfully repair the error.

SCSI Devices not detected when posting ML530 Server.....

Hello,

To get to the BIOS for your server, press F10 at start-up. This should get you there to verify if settings are detecting SCSI devices. If they are there, you may have to reinstall the SCSI controller drivers. Good Luck.

You need to have a bootable disc with the OS boot from it and install.

Tyan S3992 MOBO with scsi drives and tape drive

Only if your BIOS supports booting off the particular device. You could also try to swtich the two PCI slots. Put the tape drive controller in the 1st slot,and the SCSI controller in the 2nd slot.

Which tape drive is it? Is there a firmware update for the BIOS for that PCI controller? I would perhaps contact the vendor of the tape drive/controller
