Question about Homelite Garden
Generally these kinds of units sit more than they are used so they can absorb moisture in the fuel tank and make starting hard. Gasoline does not stay fresh for more than a couple of months and loses octane and volatility. Also your unit is a two stroke which will foul it's spark plug sooner than a four stroke motor. I would get a new spark plug and install it. Being careful remove all the gas from the fuel tank, wipe it out with a clean cloth (if possible) or leave it open for several days to dry any water up. Refill with fresh gas, preferably high octane (greater than 93 octane) with the proper oil mixture/ratio (this should be available in your owner's manual). Remove the air filter and replace it with a new unit or clean it per the manufacturer's instructions, if your unit has a cleanable filter. Remove the spark plug and with it hooked to the wire, and the metal end resting on the motor fins, spin the unit over and watch for a spark. It should be blue/white and a good size and snap. If the plug sparks fine, reinstall the plug and following the manufacturer's recommendations try to start the unit. If these were the only problems your unit should run fine.
