I have a Yamaha HTR 3063 reciever and I just got a PSW 2000 Kef sub and I can't get the sub to WORK NO MATTER WHAT I DO PLEASE HELP

That is a potentially great combination. I have a Yamaha receiver but I am not familiar enough with Kef to know but is it possible your receiver expects to be connected to a powered sub. Are you sure the Kef works by itself? Have you checked to see whether the receiver subwoofer output works with another speaker? Could receiver mode selection be a factor? My Yamaha switches various functions on and off depending upon your preference.

For what it's worth, the troubleshooting section of my Yamaha manual says a subwoofer no sound problem can be caused by selecting MAIN LFE/BASS OUT on the SET MENU when Dolby or DTS material is being played or selecting SWFR when a 2-channel source is being played. Something has to work!

Only One Subwoofer output is on my Denon 2309, but KEF Sub has two In L+R, which one should I use or do I have use Y Split Sub Cable

KEF manuals are really hard to find especially when we don't know ahat model it is. Do you have YOURS? The split-Y is guaranteed to work.

When my KEF home theatre subwoofer is maxing out on bass, it often makes a loud popping noise. Should I be making some adjustments to reverb, volume, or something else?

Hi,
Yes you should make adjustments.KEF makes very good products, however if you don't handle this you will have to replace or service it.
1 If the woofer is very close to you, relocate it further away. The reason being is that the lower the frequency the larger the wave form. The lowest waveforms will become louder.
2 Adjust the high frequency cut off to be at 80Hz. This should eliminate boom. Higher Sub frequency tend to muddy the sound.
3 The sub should have a subtle effect in music. So the relationship between it and the speakers it augments the sound of should be seamless.
4 If you are playing Rap or Reggie music and you like to play it loud. Add another sub into the system and locate it NEXT TO the KEF Sub. In this fashion the two subs will reinforce each other's energy. They will "couple" thus multiplying their energy considerably.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Mark

Is there an incompatibility between Onkyo 606 and KEF Wireless?

Sorry this is not a solution.

I am having virtually the same problem and I wanted to find out if you managed to fix the issue?

It seems to be my LCD causing the static noise (even when it is powered down). The static noise goes away when I physically unplug the TV or disconnect the HDMI cable to the amp.

How powerful loudspeakers can my Onkyo TX-SV444 tackle, maintaining good sound?

buy 6ohms or 8 ohms speakers. 4ohms consume too much power and sometimes causes short circuit. (safety first!)

Receiver puts up PROTECT message

Not enough information provided - problem is likely impedance / load related. Receivers / amplifiers usually self-protect when the resistance they expect to see as provided by a loudspeaker is too low, or bypassed by a shorted circuit. Check your loudspeakers' impedances - impedance is measured in ohms. The loudspeakers' native impedances, as-built, may be too low for the amp. You can check the amp's requirements in the spec's section in the manual. If the numbers check-out, then put a multimeter on each loudspeaker to check their impedance. A failed loudspeaker can have a tanked impedance, thereby cascading instability to the amp. If you are driving a dynamic arrangement of loudspeakers with room-borne volume controls, a multi-meter won't likely reveal accurate impedance, you will need an Impedometer to test. And, most importantly, make absolutely certain that there is not a single strand of conductor errantly shorting at all terminations.

Kef k160 sp3134 hi i was wondering if speaker parts canbe purchased for these. also i wastrying to figure out whether you access the speakers inside the cabinet. thecabinets are sowellmade it is not easy...

I have a good KEF K160 tower (one speaker) for sale. I purchased the pair and one had a blown woofer. After trying to replace/repair, I purchased a pair of KEF C40s and been happy ever since. The good K160 looks and sounds good. Grill and cabinet in good shape, both black finish. Other speaker cabinet is in poor condition. I'll sell the single (or both if you want to pay shipping) for $75. (Plus shipping, around $50 USA ground delivery) These are hard to find.

Muffled sounds from speakers suddenly on our boat

Hi airnurse

If you are using a cassette deck for a source of music, then it will have dirty heads. This can be cured by using a head cleaner cassette. Muffled sound from the loudspeakers usually points to a faulty high frequency driver(tweeter). Is the sound muffled on radio or other sources as well. If so, then you have faulty tweeter(s) to any speakers that are muffled.

Of course in saying that, you should check that someone has not just turned the treble control all the way down, or the bass control alll the way up :) Pays to check.

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) If you are still unsure, or have problems, then before you give a rating for this advice, please get back to me and we can try some more things.
Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.
