Question about Acer Extensa 5620 Notebook PC

1 Answer

My DVD ROM is not reading and it's not even recognized in my computer. I tried uninstalling the driver in device manager (showing usual incomplete driver sign) to see if the system will automatically install but now there is absolutely no driver.

If it does not eject, how does it open?

Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Check BIOS by pressing F key (correct F key is noted during boot) and make sure BIOS see's the Optical Drive.

My Lenovo 3000 G410 Optiarc DVD/RW AD 7560A can t read just writed cd/dvd. But it dose not happend with the original/licence cd /dvd.

First you need to check your DVD rom drivers if it is detected in the Device manager window, Just click on Start , Control Panel, System then Device manager there you can check the list of all your devices.
  • In Device Manager look for DVD/CD-rom drives click the arrow or plus sign on the left to show he sub Menu.
  • Check to see if there are any Marks such as question marks, Exclamation Points or Red X's.
  • Hopefully there are none of any, if there is try uninstalling the driver then restart the machine it should automatically reinstall the DVD/CD-rom.
  • Now to get the not reading error, Click on Start, then on the Start Search Bar type on REGEDIT then press enter. mvincentc_35.jpg
  • This will open the Registry Editor Window.
  • In the Registry Window follow this key path = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

mvincentc_39.jpg
Once the dvd/cd-rom appears a list on the Right pane window will show, on the list looke for upper and lower filters then delete both then close the registry window then restart you computer.

This should help restore you DVD/CCD-rom back to a reading state.

Have a nice day,

Hi there.
If its Vista you are using, right click on "computer", select "manage" a window will pop up, select "device manager" you will now see a list of devices, look down the list and locate the CD/DVD Rom, click on the + icon next to the CD/DVD, right click on it and select "uninstall". restart the machine and load windows up as usual, the drivers for the CD/DVD will install automatically and you should be able to use the CD/DVD Rom.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!!
