You need to right click on the network icon in the bottom right corner like in the one picture I have Included and then click on network and sharing. Once this opens you should see active connections this is where you click to change it to home like in the picture i have includedI have an acer aspire - ecaywood80_2.jpgecaywood80_1.jpg

Try re-installing the wireless card driver and the configure the wireless card to the wireless router's wireless settings. You can also have a look at the wireless card settings in the computers that is connecting to the wireless router/Internet and then apply these settings to the wireless card in the Acer.

Vista have new router wireless network shows connected but not receiving packets

The problem is might be your computer is CONNECTED,but there are no network activity so you're receiving no packets
If you can't connected to the internet, then that network probably doesn't has an internet access on it

I have a 'new' aspire one netbook and i cant make work. it says in need to be connected to a network. ihave an acerlaptop that works just fine on network 7AP13. i am connected verizon fios and am not

That means there is a corrupt or a missing wireless driver on your new acer laptop. First of all if you are using Windows XP follow the following
1. Go to start
2. Right-click on "My computer"
3. Go to "Properties
4. Go to Hardware tab
5. Go to Device manager
In the device manager check for any yellow question mark or an exclamation mark. Especially on the network adapters. That means if you had the network drivers working before, then they are corrupt or they are not there at all.

Here is the solution..
visit acer.com and go to their downloads and support tab, you will be abel to see the model of your computer and you can download the wireless drivers that are compatible with your laptop.

Can't connect to the Internet. It says media disconnected

HI, if you are getting media disconnected error message, that only means that the computer cannot detect any device that let you connect to the internet. THere are 2 ways to connect to the internet. 1. By Ethernet : click on start > right click on computer > choose poerties > click device manager on the upper left : redmatrix_6.jpg
Check if there is an X mark on it. if there is none, try right -clicking on it to uninstall the drivers and then windows will reinstall it again automatically. Just wait for it to finish and then reboot the computer. now try to connect tot he internet again. 2. Wireless connection. : do the same again, you'll also see another device on the device manager. do that same with the wireless ans then check the connection after.
That shoudl fix the problem.
Thank you for using Fixya.

I can't get my wireless to work on my laptop - I honestly cannot even remember when or how it stopped working. I get a message when I try to connect: The network adapter "Intel (R) WiFi Link...

Very first thing to try is check to see if the wireless is turned on!
There may be a small switch on the case that must be turned on. But this doesn't sound like your problem--just thought I'd mention it.
Then go into the device manager and remove the adapter. Don't worry--this won't hurt anything.
Restart the computer and let it find the adapter. It should work after that.
Other than that, I'd have to know the actual settings on the adapter to help you.

I am trying to hook up Netflix through my Wii and i can't seem to connect to my wirleless internet in my home. My computer's have no problem getting the Wi-Fi signal.

Reboot your wireless internet and move your Wii closer to the source of the wireless internet. Oftentimes the nintendo wireless receivers are far weaker than the wireless cards in computers or other wireless devices, so moving it closer should help. If this doesn't work, you can purchase a LAN extension for you wii and hook it up to the internet directly through a wired connection. Let me know if you need anything else.

My laptop (acer aspire 4930) wifi is not able to detect wireless networks. It has been working fine for 1.5 years but something has happened today that it is not able to detect the wireless connections.

Double check that the Wi-Fi didn't accidentally get turned off. There should be a button on your computer that turns it on and off or a fn key usually fn+f2. Try that first if that doesn't solve the issue try reinstalling your driver which can be found at the following site.

Cant access internet through wireless network.

How do you know your notebook is connected to your wifi AP? Did you try pinging the gateway? If not, open your command window & type "ping 192.168.0.1" (put in your own gateway address.) If you get replies, then ping something outside of your network: "ping 4.2.2.2" (this is a verizon dns server). If you get replies, then "ping yahoo.com". If it does not fail at any of the above steps, you don't have a connectivity problem. If you fail any of the above, then report back & we'll continue the troubleshooting.

Acer Aspire Wireless Connection

hello

lets start with reinstalling the wireless drivers / software on the laptop.

open device manager by rightclicking my computer and select manage.

on the left side select device manager

then on the right side, find network adapters, open it from the + mark

right click on the wireless adapter and select uninstall. Then restart the pc. The wireless will be reinstalled when you start up the pc again.

See how your wireless works, if there is no change go back and right click on the wireless and select properties, then click on the drivers tab. and click on update driver, let it look for a update online if asked. if it doesnt find a update

you can get the newest wireless driver from acer at this website
