Question about Computers & Internet

I cannot connect to any wireless network. In fact, no wireless network is being detected at all (despite there being many in the area as detected on other peoples laptops),. 2 days ago it was fine and automatically detected a network in Slovenia. I am now in Italy - could that have anything to do with it??

I think the most likely issue could be if you accidentally switched off the wireless radio on your laptop. Most laptops have a physical switch or a key combination to toggle the wireless radio on and off. I can't know what the switch is on your laptop because you don't say the model. But look around on your machine and see if you may have accidentally switched off the wireless radio (maybe you put it in airplane mode if you flew from Slovenia to Italy?)

I can't connect to the wireless Internet despite

Borrow other wireless adaptor, then plug it to your desktop. Try to connect ...but U must install the adaptor driver too. If it works, that means your internal adaptor is out of work.

I am only able to obtain wired internet access despite wireless configuration. My computer does not detect the wireless network. Is this because the SSID has been disabled? How can I unhide it?

yes if u have the ssid disabled it wont detect it u have to log into ur router and set it to broadcast the ssid

log into the router and click on advanced wireless settings and clear the check mark where it says disable ssid and save settings

Lost wireless connection. Diagnosis said network connection o.k but cable not connected to network adapter for local area connections. cheked and all cables connected even changed blue line ethernet...

Check if the wireless works by directly connecting to the Lan port and the system. If it works, you may have to check for the Wireless Home Setup. Check if there are changes made to the Freequencies. 802.3 g usually gives max range. In case you are working at a distance which the signal wouldnt cover, the system can show network not detected. Also try to work on a Manual Address mode than DHCP and find if the network is getting detected. Check if the WNC is enabled and if working on DHCP, try do a tcp ip reset using the command from the command prompt... by using the command ipconfig /release.
and then ipconfig /renew
if the ip is renewed successfully, the wireless router is allocating the new tcp ip address and your network should work. Good luck.

Wi-fi connection

1. First, you have to make sure that the Wi-Fi of your laptop is turned on.

2. Make sure that there's an available wireless network in your area so that you can test if the computer can detect any available network.

3. If you're running Win XP, right-click the wireless icon on your system tray and select "View available wireless networks"

4. If you can't detect any wireless network, right-click the wireless icon on your system tray and select Open Network Connections.

5. Right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon and make sure to enable it.

6. If it's already enabled, try to disable it and then re-enable it.

7. If you can't still detect any wireless network, try this:
- Click the Start > Run > type msconfig > hit Enter

8. Locate the Wireless Zero Configuration and click on it once.

9. Once it's highlighted, locate the Start button on the upper left hand corner of that screen.

10. After starting the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC), try to detect the wireless network again.

Create a local area network

you can get a HP x175 printserver. (not expensive.) and connected it between the printer and the router. that way you don't have to have the desktop on all the time.

Wireless network not detected despite all elements seems working

Hello there.

This is a common problem. What i typically do on notebooks that use Intel Wireless, is install the latest drivers and Intel software from their website. 9 times out of 10 this will make it pick up a network that was not previously found, or fix problems with timeouts and so on.

Please click here then choose your version of windows, click 'Go!' and then click "Download" beside the section called "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software for Windows* XP/2000 32-Bit"

When you download and run this file, and install the software, you can then use the Intel utility to connect to the wireless network.

Hope this helps.

Wireless cannot detect any network despite claims to be working fully

Try first dissabling the wired network adaptor, so as the pc is not looking for the wrong area connection. If you have used Windows to try to repair the connection the settings will be wrong for the router addreses. Go to your wireless network cards properties and make sure that on the internet protocol the obtain IP address automatically is selected. Run this flush:- Click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter. Re-start pc and type the routers address in your internet browser. Go to your router settings and ensure enable DHCP is set to automatically allocate ip addresses.
