Question about Danby DMW1146SS Microwave Oven

Open Question

Hi....Thanks for taking the time to check out this problem. Our 1 1/2 yr. old Danby microwave just recently started exhibiting the following problem.This started to happen when someone ran the oven with nothing in it for approx. 2 mins. I noticed the right hand side of the oven was very hot afterward as well. Not good i know. This problem does not happen every time we use it but does happen a lot. Shortly after heating something up and taking it out of the oven ,the unit will beep and go completely dead. Shortly after that the digital display will light back up and i can then set the clock and use it again. The unit never kicks out during a cook cycle ,always afterwards. Any advice would be appreciated.....Dan

The touch pad may be defective. There is a membrane behind the buttons that will cause problems like that. The only cure is to replace the touch assy.

I would like to disable the beep on my Danby Designer microwave. Is there a way to do this?

The first and most effective way is by following the instructions below;
1. Unplug the oven
2. Open the door of the oven
3. Press the 0(zero) and reset buttons together while plugging the oven back in.
This should solve the problem, if this does not solve the problem, then the next thing to do is to contact danby technical service.
Hope this was helpful?

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
I would return the unit, you have a lemon on your hands

Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

After jiggling the lower burn element the oven heated up in the normal time. Perhaps a connection had come loose.
