Question about Printers & Copiers

8 Answers

I have attempted to print some photos - which I have downloaded to my computer - on a HP PSC1317 AIO printer. The problem is that the printing operation stops at around the half-way point with an E message on the machine. I have cleared the apparent jam and started all over again with the same result. I have tried various photo papers without success but found that I got a full printout when I used plain paper.

    Solution did not work

  • 718435 Aug 14, 2008

I have disconnected the power supply from the printer and waited five minutes as suggested.
This did not solve the problem.

  • 718435 Aug 14, 2008

I have earlier reinstalled the printer software

  • 718435 Aug 14, 2008

I am using a lighter weight of paper (180gsm) than my normal paper

  • 718435 Aug 14, 2008

I am using a thinner paper (180gsm) than my normal paper.

  • 718435 Aug 14, 2008

I sorted out the problem in the end by using the photo paper recommended by HP

I too have faced the similar problem while printing photos few months back .some one suggested me to check the same printer with another pc to print the same photos fornunately i had other pc with a higher configuration then the first one.it perfectly printed while printing with the second pc.but still whenever i connect to my old pc it creates the same problem as before.i am not sure but i belive that it was may be because of the low configuration of the first pc which was not able to print the printout of the heavy load. documents print properly with both pc, but for photos everytime i need to use my higher configuration pc.this may not be solution for everybody but it solved my problem so i shared it with you, may be it helps you too.thanks. and good luck.

Make sure the printer settings on the computer are set for the kind of paper that you are using or at least set to a thicker type of paper.

The paper you are trying to use may be too thick for the printer to pull through

by the way, try to print any small size photo with the same paper in which problem comes ...

if it works with that then that can be caused by the ink catridges or it can be the fault inside the circuitry. Because for printing a photo or other, printer has to warm up and technically the printer roller has to charge for printing.. maybe for a big high colored photo can not be targeted by the printer. in this case u have to repair it either in warranty or without it.

    dear,

if u have any external memory card inserted then remove it and then make it on .

maybe this is caused by that also..

    regards,

Sounds like a driver problem, try reinstalling the drivers and software for the printer.

Also disconnect power cable for 5 minutes, draining power off the printer will reset the unit.

If it happens only when you print photos, then the problem is related to the bigger amount of ink required when printing pictures. Try lowering down print resolution in printer settings, this will set the printer to spray a smaller amount of ink.
Also ensure you are using the right photo paper and that printer settings for paper are on photo paper.
If the problem persist it can be a factory defect, Contact hp using the phone number printed on printer's user manual and see if they offer a replacement for your printer.

Do not forget to vote the solution.

I would exclude driver problem, as the printer prints well on any other format, it is either an ink/heads problem or a mechanic problem with photo paper jamming when print is half way through.

Check the version of AiO software you are using. We had to re-install the Aio Kodak software yesterday because the print que did not register when I changed the ink cartridges. The AiO would scan, but the computer side still thought it was out of ink.

Perhaps the latest software will fix your problem too.

HP C4280 does not scan

Hello !

Your print driver may be corrupted. So, give this a try:

Delete your AIO icon from Printers and Faxes

Download the latest driver for your operating system from here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3192753&

Disconnect your USB printer cable

Restart your computer

Reconnect your USB printer cable

Your computer should see your AIO and install the new driver.

If your computer does not see your AIO, your USB printer cable is faulty or try another USB port on your computer.

Hope this helps.

Hp 1115 photosmart dics to load to computer is broken

Hello there.

You can download the setup files from the Internet by clicking here. Choose which version of Windows you have, then click on the "HP Photosmart printer software/driver" and "HP Photosmart Essential Software for Photo Editing, Printing, and Sharing". Open the printer software when the download is complete and it will set up the printer, once that is finished then open the Photo Editing software (second download) and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps.

Printing black squares in word.doc

It sounds like this is an HP driver issue. HP drivers have built-in "optimizations" (that unfortunately have bugs) for things like printing photos. Different programs (word, for example) try to take advantage of these optimizations in different ways. When they work, they give superior photo printing (faster, with more accurate color). When they don't, you get black squares. This is why "converting" it to PDF worked for you -- Word printed it through the PDF driver instead of the HP printer driver, then when you printed the PDF file, that program avoided those optimizations when it sent the images to the printer. Unfortunately, the translation caused quality loss. If your goal was to print out something like a "proof-sheet" of photos, you might try the free photo organizer at www.preclick.com. It will print these for you, captions and everything, and should be able to avoid the driver issues.
