    THE OVEN IS A SIEMENS HB915 SERIES. THE PROBLEM WAS PRESENT BEFORE I REMOVED THE DOOR TO CHECK THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS PRESENT

  • mezshaun May 19, 2011

    Yes - tried that but no luck. Also, when door is fully open ie horizontal - the bottom edge seems flush with the casing so there does not seem any scope for the hinges to be more fully recessed. If inward adjustment could be achieved, the next time one opened the door, the bottom edge of the oven would act a a pivot against the casing and tend to pull the hinge assembly outwards again. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

    The oven seal is in good condition and seals at the bottom. Because there is not enough tension in the hinges, the top of the oven door falls away from the seal at the top and will not remain vertical. It comes out a few mm from the casing at the top when in the 'closed' position. Hope this makes the situation clearer. Thanks.

If your oven door has spring, check if it is possible to adjust the mounting in order to increase the tension.

Not sure of the make or model oven, but in most cases, the rubber seal is the part that needs to be replaced, not the hinges. Was this issue present before the door removal or was it noticed after door removal?

    Have you tried lifting the door up and allow the hinges to fall back into place? Most models have an exact notched area where the hinge can fall into place and be correctly aligned.

    Are we sure the oven seal is not the cause. Oven is level and checked with a level? With all the weight displaced while the door is open, and it appears to be aligned, I suspect the door should align without weight in the upright closed position. How much of an opening is present with the door shut between the seal and door?

Check your door hinges, they may be bent. If so, you might be able to bend back, or buy new hinges. Might be a faulty seal

How do you adjust door closed

Hello Chris;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You did not provide a model number, Which is on a metal tag on the face of your oven when you open the oven door.

The only way you can align your door is to loosen the screws on the door hinges, position the door and while someone is holding the door in position tighten the hinge screws. The screw holes have some play in them.

How to replace the seal on Electrolux oven between oven and door

This might not be helpful to you, but have you tried the old tea towel in the corners trick to see if its the hinge alignment and not the seal? Put two tea towels in the lower corners sticking out of the oven part way and push the oven door closed a few times. Saved me from trying to replace the seal on my Miele.

I have a Competence B 6139-4-m electric oven. the door does not close properly, have tried cleaning it as intruction manual suggests, the heat escaping from the oven has scorched my cupboards

the fault is unlikely to be the actual oven unit so therefore in order of least expense the things to check are:- the door seal being complete, the hinges not having been forced, the door not being buckled, self adhesive universal seals are available online from *spares etc. Hinges are easy to remove from the cooker and then can be unscrewed from the door and replaced. if it's the door I would have to say that's less likely to be available for a sensible price.

Re Neff B1451 oven door not sealing against oven body at top

If you take the hinges off, you can fit some washers between the hinges and the door to make it close it further. Probably not as good as new hinges, but cheaper. 2mm of washers will close a 5mm gap
