Question about Dell W4200 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
This symptoms indicated of internal problem in the unit itself if the static sound is present in all inputs.
The is caused by the following reasons :
> Faulty power supply - once there an out-of-regulation condition on the power supply feeding the audio circuitry, static sound will produced to the speakers. This is commonly caused of leaky/dried filter capacitor. Leaky capacitor has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top or in the bottom and can easily identified. Dried capacitor has no physical indication of fault, you must have a capacitor checker to determine its condition.
> Faulty audio circuitry - Once the sound IC has a faulty internal circuitry, same symptom will produced. This is considered partially faulty and needs replacement. Another reasons is the faulty coupling/bias electrolytic capacitor in this section.
This kind of symptom is not DIY and I would advice you to look for a qualified technician to troubleshoot the problem.
Hope I help you.
Have a nice day!
