If the hard drive is corrupted it could mean two different things, The operating system on the hard drive has been damaged or the hard drive itself is damaged either way it not good. If you tried to restore 6 times and no luck it is more likely to be the hard drive is damaged, because if it was the operating system it should be recoverable.

Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console My PS3 hard disk is corrupted, It say to restore i put restore and nothing had been restored Bid

Corrupted hard disk? Lets see....

You could attempt to boot up the PS3 in safe mode and restore the file system (should delete any corrupted data). Describing how to start up your PS3 in safe mode would just be confusing, so instead here's a link to the official page on the PS3 Safe Mode feature.

Follow the instructions, and then I'd say try options 3 (Restore File System). If that doesn't work, try 4 or 5 (Rebuild Database or Restore PS3 System).

If that fails, you could just replace the hard drive. The PS3 uses standard 2.5inch SATA laptop/notebook hard drives (5400 or 7200 RPM). They can be found online at any computer parts website; for example, Tigerdirect.

If somehow the new hard drive doesn't fix it, or you don't feel like buying a new hard drive, you could send the PS3 back to Sony. If you're under warranty it's free; otherwise it's expensive (150$ I believe).

If you request the repair service, they send you a box, you put the PS3 in it and ship it back to them. A month or 2 later they send you a fixed/different PS3. Simple, but takes forever to get a working PS3 back which is why I suggest you try a new hard drive first.

Anyways, hope you get it working soon!

Hi all, I can't "sign in" in PSN, it says you you

You seem to have some corrupted data on the hard drive regarding downloads and firmware. No fear this is an easy fix. First off...shut off ps3 so that its in standby. (Red Light On).
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Press and hold the power button again and keep holding, it will beep as it turns on and then it will double beep. When you hear the double beeps immediately take your finger off the power button (if your system turns off before you get a double beep just try again and hold the button, it should double beep the 2nd time you try)
4. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
You will now have a screen with these options (I have attached a picture of this screen below)
1. Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
2. Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
CHOOSE THIS ONE 3.Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
4. Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
5. Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
6. System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT CHOOSE THE WRONG OPTION HERE OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA. The one that fixed my blu-ray drive is option 3: RESTORE FILE SYSTEM
I REPEAT CHOOSE RESTORE FILE SYSTEM
After this, it is going to restart and bring up a screen reading something like "you have Corrupted System Data. Your PS will now replace this data" Then you choose continue and that should be it.
This option reinstalls the system files and drivers inside the PS3 with the original ones that are stored on your hard drive. In this case, it replaced a corrupted driver for the blu ray drive thus fixing my issue and hopefully yours!! This option will only replace all system files thus saving you from loosing any data that's stored on your hard drive. Again this option does nothing to your hard drive it reads a file from the drive and rewrites it to the PS3 system. Hope this helps...it did for me.

I have the same problem as mark&michelle..PS3 says cannot start.Correct hard disk not found.Changed hard drive,same thing..No external sata.No warranty.Need help.Please.Thanks

Ok try these steps, hopefully it will sort it but if it doesn't reply here and I will assist you some more.
Step 1. Turn the PS3 into standby mode (red light on)
Step 2. Press and hold the power button, it will beep as soon as you press it, beep again 5 seconds later then beep once more and turn off. Release the power button.
Step 3. Again press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it, then 5 seconds later, then it will do 2 quick beeps together. Let go of the power button when you hear these 2 quick beeps.
Step 4. The PS3 will ask you to connect a controller using a USB cable and press the PS button. Do this and a menu will appear.
Step 5. Select option 3 of the menu, "Restore File System"
Step 6. The PS3 will say "Preparing..Please Wait" and then restart. Let it do its thing, you may see a message about corrupt data on the hard drive, just agree and continue with what it was doing. You may lose save game data, it really is hit and miss with this method.

Hopefully when the hard drive file system has been restored you should have a fully working PS3 again but if you don't, post here and I will try and assist you some more.

If you are getting the corrupted drive message on your Playstation 3 this means you have corrupted data on your hard drive. The link below will help you fix the problem with the corrupted data. Note if you still have trouble then you will need to replace the hard drive as there is something wrong with it.

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

There is an alternate way to restore your HDD. Turn off your system and when u see the red light, hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 4 beeps (1 alone, 1 alone, 2 together). It usually works on second try. it should show a screen and say hook up controller with a usb cord. Then it should show i think 6 options. Choose the restore option. it should work.

Hope it works and wish you all the best!
P.S.- I just got the 80010514 error on my ps3 and my ps3 games dont work anymore :(
