The fuses found in the lead wires or next to where the lead wires connect to the ignition control board. Find them and confirm with an ohm meter and replace them. Be sure to check the ignitor leads for a ground fault prior to restarting the heater since a ground could have caused the old ignitor to fail and not correcting it will blow the new one as well.

I can smell gas but heater will not ignite. Display shows that the heat is on. Thanks!

First of all, be careful while looking into the system when the gas comes on because it could unexpectedly ignite and burn you.

You listed this question in the Jandy Lite 2 Natural Gas Pilot Light Heater. If your heater is a pilot light heater then the pilot light needs to be lit so when the gas comes on it will ignite.

If your unit contains a thermal ignitor it should glow brightly when the gas starts. If it is glowing then it is probably not glowing brightly enough or not in the right place and therefore needs to be either replaced or repositioned. If it is not glowing then you should measure the voltage using a volt/ohm meter going to the ignitor. If it reads about 115 VAC then the ignitor is broken and needs to be replaced. If it reads much lower voltage then the board that supplies power to it probably has a problem on it. It may be a defective relay, bad solder joint or some other problem. I would first re-solder the relay connections to the board and see if that fixes it. Otherwise the board will need to be replaced.

If the unit has a spark ignitor and you hear a spark sound it may be too low power or the spark probe might be in the wrong place and therefore not delivering the spark to the fuel air mixture. If you don't hear the spark then you may have a bad relay or bad solder joint to it.

Please let me know how this works out. Thank you.

Pool heater will not come on and displays a number 4 and service heater

After reading the manual at, I found the FL4 fault indicates an igniter failure.

The possible causes are:
A. Igniter circuit is open.
B. Element has a fine crack in it.
C. Igniter fault.

The recommended correction is:
A. Check fuses on igniter wires. Identify and correct
loose connections or broken wires. Refer to
qualified personnel.
B. Measure room temperature resistance and
ensure value is in the correct range. See manual
for details. Refer to qualified personnel.
C. Replace igniter. Refer to qualified personnel.

If you have a volt/ohm meter you could measure the AC voltage going to the igniter when it should come on. If you see 120 VAC then replace the igniter. If the ignitor lights up and the gas valve turns on and there is gas pressure then the heater should light up.

If the 120 VAC doesn't get to the igniter you can check the items in the above lists and if not resolved call Jandy technical support at 800-822-7933 and they should be able to help youfigure this issue out. I hope this helps.

Replaced control interface panel and transformer, igniter glows and gas valve clicks but no ignition. have run volt tester and all is up to spec.

You'll need a manometer to check inlet and outlet gas pressure to confirm the valve is opening upon receiving voltage. Since you have replaced everything else you're likely to find that even though the 24V is present at the valve and the inlet pressure is fine you are not getting any manifold pressure - the valve is bad.

My Jandy Heater contol reads.. Fault check ignition control> what should i do?

Check all the gas jets on your heater unit. Spiders love to buld little webs in these things and it might prevent gas from reaching the ignitor.

5 year old Laars 25,000 LX won't ignite.

The low pressure indicator is for the gas pressure not the water pressure. The heater won't ignite because it's not getting gas to the igniter. Check gas supply, if okay, check gas connections, valves, etc.

The 1 HP motor should be fine on the jacuzzi.
