Hello
Check your voltage at the pump, past the coil.if you have voltage then the motor bearings are worn or its open on thermal overload.Possible bad motor.

Also at the contactor check to see if it has themal overload protectors.

Air conditioner outside fan does not turn off

Is the compressor shutting down and fan is not??? How about the blower, is the coil freezing? Need to check the contactor on the outdoor unit, 240 volts hurts, please use caution. If not confident as to what you are doing call a professional. If need be turn off breaker, you do not want the coil freezing inside!

Tip

What to check when you air conditioner will not stop running:

If you discover that your outdoor air conditioner and/or heat pump runs continuously even with your thermostat off and the indoor blower is off, the most probable cause is a stuck contactor. In most residential air conditioners / heat pumps, the contactor is the switch that allows voltage to your compressor and condensor fan motor; therefore, allowing them to run. The contactor allows line voltage (normally 208 - 240 volts) to pass through a set a contacts to your motor. The contacts pull in when the thermostat calls for Cooling and they "open" when the thermostat "satisfies". This is accomplished with the use of a low voltage coil. When 24 volts is applied to the coil, it creates a magnetic force that pulls the contactor in to close the contacts. When the 24 volts is removed from the coil, the magnetic force no longer exists.....a spring will force the contacts back "open" and stop the compressor and fan motor from running.
The contactor is considered a wear-n-tear item as, eventually, the contacts will wear and begin to "pit". Eventually, they will either pit so severely, they will not allow enough voltage through them to operate the motors OR they may allow enough voltage and then overheat and weld themselves together. Often times you can lightly tap on the contactor and it will "free" the contacts and stop the motors. Unfortunately, once the contactor starts "sticking" it is highly likely it will stick again. Therefore, it is recommended that the contactor be replaced at first sign of sticking or when the contacts show signs of damage/overheating via a visual inspection.

My grizzly bandsaw has voltage to the saw motor but the but motor does not turn. i have amped saw motor out = no draw. i have ohmed the three legs of saw motor and get readings of 10.4 ohms between

Check the rotor to see if it's locked (bad bearings, rust, crud inside motor, etc). Also try running it without any belt. Check the wheels for binding. If it has a gearbox (I can't tell, that's not a Grizzly bandsaw model number), check the gearbox to make sure it runs freely.

I have a evcon eb12b heat pump, it works intermitantly on heat, ihave replaced the contactor, and have 24v at the contactor, come times the heat pump will come on sometimes it wont, The hvac repair guy...

does this unit have a capacitor that is hooked up to the motor, as it may be the capacitor or motor, of course this is just a guess as I am not there to see it. I guess you can push in the contactor a few times and make sure all is coming on like it should, might be the control board. Just a matter of pluck and chuck. Good Luck Tim

I purchased a Friedrich PDH15KS BTU Cooling, 17,000 BTU Heating, 9.3 EER PTAC Air Conditioner With Heat Pump and 5.0 KW Backup Electric Heat....in October of 2007...it was installed in November and ran...

The Warranty will be expired. Sounds like the contactor for the heater is wearing. Obviously a guess, but, "rattling" sounds like a bad cintactor to me. If thats the case, im guessing $100 diagnostic, $75 for the contactor, ISH...Best Wishes!!
