Question about Electric Mobility Power Electric Scooter Power Wheel Chair Safety Flag

4 Answers

My wife has a Pro Rider Freedom Mobility Scooter. It is about 18 months old and hasn't been used very much. It has suddenly started to go much slower than it used to. I have had the batteries checked and they still seem to be fine and holing the charge. I have also sprayed WD40 on all of the axles and cannot see any obvious hindrance to the wheels moving. Would be grateful for any advice. Tony

Mine is less than 6 months old and the same is happening. I think the batteries are rubbish. I have been told to send them back for testing but I can't do without my scooter for that long, I'll be trapped indoors for two weeks, never mind how I post them if I can't get out to the post office!!

If you convinced the batteries are okay, look at the connections leading from the controller , the black box under the cover under the seat,

by refitting the connectors you are making sure the connections are okay now carefully remove one of the brushes, is it worn right down and more importantly do the brushes move freely within the motor, spray some contact cleaner or WD40 if that all be been done , we have to start looking at the controller output, I can test it for free for you. you only pay the postage.

It sounds like a battery problem. How were the batteries tested? The only way to test them properly is a dischrge tester and that can take 24-72hours per battery - not something that can be done on site! Regards,

This scooter has not been used for 18 months,it has 2 gel batteries and showed a full charge after o'night charge(greeen light) showing. How many kilometres should i get from it ?.it is a victory...

hi.

with good batteries, and under ideal conditions (flat smooth surface) this scooter should be good for up to 30 km.
this is highly dependant on the surface, slopes, rider weight, and battery condition, but with good batteries you should easily be able to do a round of golf.

the biggest problem you may have will be the batteries themselves.
after 18 months without use, the batteries may have suffered from a sulphur build up on the lead plates in the battery. this can mean that the batteries will show fully charged, but will not put out the full power. the best way to test this is to take the batteries down to your local car garage and ask them to do a "load test" sometimes called a "drop test" on the batteries. they will usually do this free of charge and it only takes a few minutes. a 100amp load test for 8 seconds should tell you the condition of the batteries.
if the batteries test ok, then you should not have any problems using the scooter for a round of golf.

hope this helps

I need immediate help with a problem with my wife's GO GO Elite Traveller 3-wheel scooter. With a fully charged battery, in about 10 to 20 minutes of operating, there is a clicking noise in the area of...

Check the area at the rear of the motor where the brake is attached after operating for a while if you can feel heat or hot at the brake motor area then the brake is sticking causing excess drag this in turn drains the batteries quicker and can be the cause of the clicking sound you hear. If the battery is not getting hot or the motor then the problem could be in the transaxle. Block the rear wheels off the ground and have the wife engage the throttle if you still hear the clicking noise place your hand on the gearbox /transaxle to see if you can feel a vibration in time with the clicking If you feel a vibration then the transaxle/gearbox will need to be changed If you see that the brake is dragging then the brake will have to be replaced If Medicare paid for the wife's scooter then they will pay for 80% of the repair. You can contact the provider that sold your wife the scooter to see if they do repairs or you can contact Repair xpress @1-877-581-3733 to see if they have a tech in your area Hope this helps you

the fuse on most scooters is located under the seat, lift the back up and you should be able to se the batteries follow the wires from the battery to find a fuse.
