I have been following other threads posted on this website which indicate that the region code can be altered on other machines. Are you saying that this is not possible?

My Jensen AWM970 is embedded in a wall cupboard in my fifth wheeler van and I wouldn't have a clue how to remove it - nor do I want to - to take it to a technician. All of the other exampples I have seen are about using keys on teh remote. Is that possible with my situation?

  • John Emslie May 18, 2011

    Brand - Jensen. Model - AWM970, a combined AM/FM receiver, CD/DVD player.

  • John Emslie May 22, 2011

I have a Jense AWM970 AM/FM receiver/CD-DVD player. It is wall mounted in my fifth wheeler. I need to change the DVD Regional setting to Region 4 (Australia) so I can view DVDs.

It looks like you have player settings for another region. You have to reset your region in your device settings. NOTE: some devices allow to change region just a limited number of times. If you are not able to change region, you will have to ask experts advice (visit repair shop) for complete device decoding/resetting.

Your DVD has a regional code printed on the back of the unit. It can only play DVD discs that are labeled the same as your machine or say "ALL" on them. Most DVD discs have a globe or more numbers on the cover. This number must match your units regional code or the disc cannot play. That is why you are getting the region code. You can enquirer if your machine can be changed, but it might be cheaper in the long run to buy an machine that will play "ALL" or one specific for your region.

Not at all, it is possible to change the region codes, but you will have to take it to a repair center for them to check for you.

I did a bit more research. Evidently it is not possible to change the player as the regional setting is set by the factory at manufacture. However, it is only legally purchased purchased DVD that are affected. If you can make a copy of your DVD is should play, but take note that this is strictly speaking in contradiction of the copyright act and is illegal.

Message "wrong Region" appears in my Sony DVD -

DVD region is an anti-piracy method to block DVDs from other countrys to be played on a region where that DVD isn't available for selling. You still can watch that DVD by changing the DVD Player region code from options but be aware that you have a limited number of changes, after changes reach 0 you cannot change DVD region code anymore and your DVD player will be stucked to a certain region that you selected.
