SOURCE: base phone handset #1 holding charge

The base unit should not need a charge. It should be powered by the plug in adapter. It may have a battery to keep operation for a short time in a power outage. The adapter may be loose, the adapter could be broken or the plug in the phone may be broken.

Not sure of your model, but on mine, you hit the menu button, arrow down to global setup, hit select. go to CIDCw (CALLER ID W/ CALL WAITING) and hit select, select ON option for call waiting or call waiting deluxe.

Hope this helps.

I have a Uniden D1680 cordelss phone system. Often times when talking for two minutes or so--it disconnects--this happens alot. Any suggestions???

UNIDEN is notorius for this. It could be losing connection to the base - are you moving around while on the phone? or it could be the battery is not holding a sufficient charge. You can move the base unit to see if that helps - maybe something is interfering with the signal. You can try taking the battery out of the phone and putting it back in. If that doesn't work then try swapping the phones and putting them in each others charger. If that doesn't work then try letting the battery die by leaving the phone off the charger for 24 hours and then recharging for 24 hours. Good Luck!

Uniden 5.8 cordless phone - replaced batteries, but now the phones don't ring....help?

up to five handsets each will need to be properly adjusted. You may need to set the main handset to synchronize with the base unit plugged into the telephone wall jack and assign special configuration numbers to the other handsets in order to properly identify each one within a specified location. One handset left in the turned on mode may make it impossible to place calls with the any of the other handsets. This will continue until either the battery dies or fails on the handset or the phone is switched off and replaced in its charger for charging again. Synchronize the main handset by pressing the MENU button on the handset, then pressing the down button IN order to select the number you wish to assign to that handset. Repeating this process if you have already done so will greatly decrease the level of errors experienced with panasonic phones.

My phone is display out of range

  1. hi..

  2. When you pick up your GE cordless phone and press a button, the phone should beep as a confirmation that a button has been pressed. If the telephone handset does not beep, or if it does not respond to any buttons, the battery may be in need of a recharge. Verify that the cordless phone base unit is plugged in to an electrical source, then place the handset into the charging cradle. If no lights illuminate on the phone, or if charging fails to correct the issue, clean the metal charging contacts on the cordless handset and place the phone back on the charger. If it still fails to respond or to charge, the unit may need to be serviced or replaced.
  3. If the cordless phone charges up and appears to be ready for use but dies after only short periods of use, the internal rechargeable batteries may need to be replaced. Replacement batteries are widely available at electronics and discount retail stores. Note your phone's exact model number, as this number will be necessary when purchasing a replacement battery.

I am guessing you have a DECT WXI2077, If there is a popping sound coming from the charger I would disconnect it. You can call Uniden Customer Service at 1800 297-1023 and they will send you a new charger if you have a receipt showing the phone was purchased less then a year ago.

Sounds like you have a defective battery. One can be purchased fairly cheap on ebay, or you might find one at your local phone store, but they will be much more expensive.

GE 5.8 ghz cordless model 25922

as with all devices which return to base for charging, the life of the re-chargeable batteries is shortened if it is constantly trickle-charged, so as with a moble phone, it is good to sometimes let it run down completely and re-charge as the battery charge will last longer, batteries are like muscles, they need excercise.
