3) Install the webcam driver from the CD provided to you with the web cam
4) A new software must have been installed Click on the software's icon to start the web cam
first b4 you install the cam... detach first the webcam usb to the pc .. install first the cd and after you install that is the time you insert the webcam usb from you pc....
This problem mainly occurs because Sony does not support connection though Hubs or for that matter Front Panel USB ports. Try connecting the camera throught the back panel ports (There are usually four to six of these depending on your motherboard.) .
If it still remains unresolved: 1. Update windows XP to atleast service pack two (If you havent already). Uninstall Picture Motion Browser.
2. Uninstall the camera from the device manager. This is how to do it. Connect the camera, wait for it to show as an unrecognised device. Hit "Windows + Pause/Break" to bring up system properties. (Windows is the key next to alt, that brings up the start menu.). Navigate to the hardware tab and choose device manager. Expand the last tree from the list (One for USB devices) and delete the entry "Unrecognised Device" (Select it and hit delete). Shut the device manager. Disconect the camera.
3. Now, connect the camera the one of the USB ports on the back of your PC and power it on. It should show up as a PTP/Mass storage (depending on your camera settings) device.
4. If it still doesn't work, disconnect all other USB devices from your PC and then repeat from step 2.
5. You can reinstall Picture motion Browser if you like or use Xp's photo transfer utility.
