Message about ink asorber full keeps appearing

When the printer is not being used, the print-heads slide to their "resting" position,
in order to keep the ink-jets moist, i.e., to NOT dry-out.

Some ink is absorbed into that INK-ABSORBER.

Now, after a few years of usage, that ink-absorber is "full".

Like taking-out the garbage from your kitchen waste-basket when it gets full, and replacing the full waste-basket with an empty waste-basket, it's time to get your printer serviced -- replace the "full" ink-absorber with an "empty" ink-absorber.

Note that CANON printers do not actually "measure" the fullness -- they electronically estimate the fullness, given information about how much you print, and how often you print, and the "density" of the pages that you do print (text is much less dense than colour-photos).

Error Number: 1700 The waste ink absorber is almost full. What is it? Where do I get a replacement? How do I replace one?

Not all the ink that gets pulled out of an ink-cartridge reaches the paper. Some of the "ink" is "waste". As such, it goes into an "absorber" (a sponge). The electronics inside the printer "predict" when the absorber is getting full, based on the number of pages you print, and the time between printing pages.

So, take your printer to a qualified printer technician.
They will empty the absorber, or replace it,
and "reset" the electronics inside the printer,
to indicate that the absorber has become "empty".

Waste ink absorber is. full. How do I empty it?

The waste ink absorber can sometimes be removed and cleaned out and put back into place. Although it is not always easy to get at. Usually once this happens it is time for a new printer. You can also contact Canon and see if they have a replacement part for this.

I have been getting the following message from my Canon iP90 portable printer: ''Waste Ink absorber is full'' What do I do to fix the problem? Harvey

If you peel apples, the apple-peel becomes "waste", and you put the waste into a bin. When the bin is full, you have to do something, i.e., empty the bin into a composter, or send the bin to the land-fill, or you get another bin.

Similarly, when your printer "wastes" ink, the ink is retained inside the printer, until the waste-absorber unit becomes full.

Take the printer to a qualified technician, to either "empty" the bin, or to "replace" the bin.

Indicates waste ink absorber is almost full on cannon i9900 print

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink full" error.

The waste ink absorption pads cannot be emptied, only replaced.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.
