Next time when in word, press the insert button, this may resolve it. If it does not, check how your mouse pad is set up - this click might be assigned to delete the previous line.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

After inserting a page break, my formatting disappears on the following page.

Hi,
All that happened is you put the page break after the formatting you wanted / needed.
First make a copy of your document. Delete your Page Break where you have the problem. Go to the last letter of the last paragraph where formatting is working. I would delete the period, add a new period, and then add a new Carriage return, then a new page break.

All the formatting that was on the last working paragraph will now carry over to the new page. Here's how you can view some of Word's formatting codes:

This button displays the formatting codes in Word:
za010287122.jpg

Something else you can try is:
  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button za010077102.gif, and then click Word Options.
  1. Click Display.
  2. Under Always show these formatting marks on the screen, check the check boxes for any formatting marks that you do want to show in your documents at all times.

Whenever I am reformatting, I always save a copy of my document with a different name, like with z- in the front of the name so it drops to the tail end of my listed documents, and then I don't see it in the list unless I need it for some reason.

If you highlight a page that is formatted the way you want it to be; All your selected options will be shown in the bar. You can then highlight the new chapter and apply those settings.

All the best to you,
Kerry Hostetter

Need to eliminate blank pages at end of word document

You can delete a blank page in a Word document by deleting the page break at the end of the page. You can also combine two pages by deleting the page break between them.
Make sure you're in normal view (on the View menu, click Normal). If nonprinting characters, such as paragraph markers , are not visible, click Show/Hide on the Standard toolbar, and then do one of the following:
  • To delete a page manually, select the page break at the end of the page, and then press DELETE.
  • To delete a blank page at the end of the document, select the page break or any paragraph markers at the end of the document, and then press DELETE.
  • To delete a page break placed before a specific paragraph, click the paragraph, and then on the Format menu, click Paragraph, click the Line and Page Breaks tab, and then clear the Page break before check box.

I'a computer idiot. I can not figure out how to hilite a paragraph from something i'm reading on the internet and just print that paragraph off my printer

Hi! you may press and hold the left button of your mouse from the start of the paragraph till the end of the last sentence of the paragraph that you want to copy. after you highlight the paragraph, you may press CTRL + C button on your keyboard to copy all the sentences, open a word document, right click on the word document and press paste. this will paste the paragraph on the word document. lastly you may press CTRL + P to print the file. Please make sure that the printer is connected to the computer and is on. Thank you for visiting FIxYa.com!

try updating the mousepad drivers, maybe they are not good. there may be new ones on the dell site that would work better with your machine. it sounds just like the issue you get with some sony machines where the drivers are no good as standard.

So does mine....if you want to delete entire sentences or paragraphs, click and hold your mouse left button and slide the cursor across what you want to delete...when it is highlighted, either just type over it or hit the delete key.
