Hi there I am trying to help a friend who has a slightly older version of the Rinnai Timberflame Centrum and he was cleaning the controls on top of the heater and in doing so has pressed one of the buttons, unsure which button, but now when he turns the heater on it only stays on for 10 minutes and then shuts off. I told him to turn it off at the mains, but it has made no difference. I'm guessing that he has pressed a button involving the timer, but don't know how to stop it cutting out after 10 minutes? We would welcome your solution, thanks Sue.

Sue, have you friend turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the heater from the electrical outlet. Wait 15 - 20 minutes and plug the heater back in. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and the heaters electronics should revert back to the original factory settings. From there he can reset it to the settings he had, before the little mishap.

Hope this helps solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a Rinnai Model 2532 with an MC-45-4US and BC-45-4US control units. I finished another bathroom and want to add a controller, but have been told that a compatible BSC-45-4US is no longer made. Is...

Sorry Ken I worked for Rinnai Australia as a service manager so treat my advice with a little cuation but you should find the basic universal controller should work fine. The code over here is a MC-91 Q2A. It will MC-91 sometihing for over there (I'm guessing from the codes you use you are across the pacific!). You can wire this unit either back to the heater or to wiring from another controller, just match the colours and link them in. Power off the heater first but it is all low voltage.

Low heat output. Older Laser 72. Does something

It's likely that the burner mat has came loose or it has a lot of carbon buildup in the burner. Look at the flame when the heater is on. It should be mostly blue with slight yellow tips. You might need to clean the fuel nozzle also. You can remove the fuel pipe where it connects to the burner and use a piece of wire or an allen wrench that will fit in the nozzle that goes into the burner to remove any carbon that may have built up. You can also clean the burner but don't destroy the mat in the bottom. You can find the owner's manual at toyostove.com and it will give you some more things to clean.

Rinnai Energysaver 1001F - Turn on, ignites, blows + powers off

Try disconnecting the unit and thoroughly cleaning the dual walled intake and vent pipe that goes through the wall. Use a small brush to make sure the passages are free from any obstructions. These units have safety mechanisms that are very sensitive and sometimes will shut off when something as seemingly insignificant as a leaf or spider web creates a slight blockage. A yearly inspection and clean out are necessary.
