Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Blackout screens I recently upgraded to U-verse AT&T and I am getting blackout screens for a few seconds at a time primarily when there are explosion, high action or adds. I have had the TV for about 5 years I already fixed the convergence about 2 years ago, and other than the convergence - I have had no problems with the unit. I had standard definition cable TV and a Humax STB getting 1080i OTA for all this time (at least since the convergence fix) with no issues. However, since U-verse (2 months ago) I continually get blackout screens. AT&T is convinced that it is the TV. When i change th setting to standard Definition i have no isses - only at HiDef. the AT&T box is connected via component. I learned on the Internet that there was a different Hitachi model that had similar issues with progressive DVD playbacks - but could not find absolutely no information on my model with my specific issue. Help? Thank you! Chester Wojna

    I got my problem solved. It was actually the TV. I called the Hitachi Rep in my area and asked them if they had a service bulletin issued for my specific symptoms and they said YES. So the Tech came and just changed the Horizontal POS from "0" to "1" and now everything works perfect - $95 dollars later.

    Thank you all!, Chester

    I have this same problem all the time and also have ATT Uverse. Does anyone have the steps to change this "horizontal POS"? I do have the repair manual for the TV, would it be called this if I looked in the manual? Thanks for the help!

Good Day;
I would suspect U-VERSE. I had it installed recently ...had problems. They came out and changed "wires". Now okay. Please call them first. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Ever since the recent blackout we had here in So Cal, my tv's timer light blinks constantly. I've tried unplugging it from the wall but it still doesn't turn on, the timer light just continues...

I would say,as this aging TV has problems, the black out certainly did not help. The real problem is your TV has aged to the point, where many, many bad grounds are evident on the convergence board. I have repaired a few of these TVs. Yes, if you know of a electronic enthusiast, give them this note. Have them pull out the convergence board and resolder any and all bad grounds. Do not use excess solder as to short pins together. It will take an effort to pull this board out and replace. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!
