The water collection bucket may not be activating the safety trigger, when it's put back in place. Check that first. If that checks out OK, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 12-15 minutes. Then plug the unit back in and Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Hopefully, during that 12-15 minute timeout, the unit reset itself and you set the controls as you normally do.

Yes, the safety trigger sensor can be replaced if parts for that unit are still available. But, sometimes, it's more trouble than it's worth. Especially, if the unit has a few years on it.

Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know.

We have two Danby Premiere Dehumidifiers. Both have stopped picking up water. The filters are clean, the fans run and there is alot of moisture in the air? Any ideas on how to fix them?

I assume that you have already:
  • Emptied the water buckets.
  • Are sure the buckets are properly in place.
  • Are sure the bucket switches are not stuck in the full bucket position.
  • Cleaned the cooling coils.
  • Verified that the controls are set for a low humidity
  • Verified that there are no trouble lights or codes,
  • Know that the area to be dehumidified is well above freezing..
It sounds like they are both stuck in defrost mode or the compressors overheated and need to cool off. "Both" is a bothersome word. Both might imply a power surge that wiped out the controls. I would:
  1. Unplug them and let them cool off 36 hours.
  2. Check your manual for a control panel reset.
  3. Take off whatever covers I could, to let me touch the cooling coils to be sure they get cool.
  4. Plug in # one and reset the panel.
  5. Let it run and see if the coils get cold.
  6. Plug in # two and reset the panel.
  7. Let it run and see if the coils get cold.
And then decided what to do next. Hopefully the cool off and reset did it .

Good luckl.

Why is the empty bucket signaling full bucket

See if there is a float switch in the unit that may be stuck.

Empty bucket light is on and dehumidifier will not run

The float switch for the condensate reservoir (bucket) is malfunctioning.

It's sending a false signal that the bucket is full.

Maybe just stuck and needs cleaning or it may have failed.

Danby water tank

this part is the indicator to activate the interlock that stop your deshumidifier when water tank is full. It activate a switch on the top right of the placeholder of the tank. when the switch is relaesed it tells you either thank is not there or full and light a red signal. the center of the wheel should be back the pivot. if the pivot is broken, i don't suggest you to forced the switch activated unless you use the direct drain, or you might have water spilled over a full bucket! Martin!
