Good Day, dv28;
No, the lamp will not correct this. The TV has a bad light engine, it's very common for this TV and very expensive. Call the manufacture and try to get a concession for the part. They normally give it about 75% of the time.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Hitachi ultra vision tv stuck on on moment please screen

Another malady common to plasma TVs are stuck pixels. This is where a red, green or blue pixel will fail to reset and remains conspicuously on the screen in the midst of the new images being displayed. There is a useful third-party program called JScreen Fix. This utility stimulates the pixels in the television through an intensive and prolonged burst of colored static. Many times this is enough to remove the stuck pixel. To utilize this program, you will need to run it off of a laptop that is hooked up to your plasma television. To download JScreen Fix, http://www.jscreenfix.com/

Hitachi rear projection LCD with yellow blobs on screen

I have the same tv and the same problem, but my yellow is a cloud around the outside of the screen. My tv was recently moved, and a repair shop told me that sometimes in a move these tvs light engine takes a shock and causes a yellow "band" on the screen. I am hearing that these light engines are not cheap either. Hope this helps you.

Sounds like Calibration is needed on the projection internals. Your TV uses a rear-projection system and the problem is either in the imaging LCD Unit or the light filter. I see in a previous thread you have changed the bulb. You can invest in a voltage regulator to keep the hardware in factory condition.
Also you can burn a DVD of a stuck pixel remedy video and run it on the screen with full brightness and full contrast. This is used for plasma burns and stuck pixels on conventional Flat panel TVs but can repair color issues with projection systems. This therapy is focused on the imaging unit between the projector and the main drop of your tv.

Closed Caption has to be in the menu on the set. Go under the Audio section, find CC and turn it off. This will be the same if you are using a Cable box. They also will have a closed caption setting.

My hitachi ultra vision television is giving a double picture

This is a common problem with rear projection TVs. It will require pulling the convergence board out of your set and replacing two large ICs and several 1 watt resistors. It can be fixed no other way.
