Fisher & Paykel Model #E522BRX Fridge portion not working but Freezer OK

My freezer works but the refrigerator is warm.

The refrigerator looks good, but I'm disappointed with it since I've had it for almost 2 1/2 years and I had to bring in a technician twice during it's 1st year.

Please give me some insight to correct this problem since unfortunately it's no longer under warranty and I cannot afford costly payments to fix it.

    Freezer working but fridge is not. Deforsting fan.

    e522b freezer works but not the fridge. Top and bottom just as described before.

    Same problem...no cooling...green lights blinking and beeping. However though the freezer fan was still working it was restricted by the whole area icing up. The fridge doors have drooped after heavy load from (e.g.) 3L milk containers so the seals do not work properly even though they are in good order. This model E522B is ~10 years old.

    So poor sealing means the fridge gets condensation, the cooling element frosts up and the reverse cycle does not work correctly resulting in a huge frozen block behind the rear cover and eventually it doesn't cool any more.

    I used the excellent instructions offered by tony439 and removed the cover. I used a hair drier to defrost everything and clean it out before reassembling. It seems to be working ok for now...long enough for me to find a new fridge :)

I bought this nice looking fridge 4 years ago and after 18 months the fridge part was warm and all the food had to be thrown away. The freezer part was still working.

I called the store that I bought it from and they told me to call a recommended service company. When I called they said that there was a common problem with the fan breaking down. (The fan is what makes the fridge cool as it blows the cold air from the freezer up to the fridge).

They did not have the part in stock and said it would take 6 weeks to order it from New Zealand!!!

I called the store back and had made a commotion so they replaced the fridge with a new one.

Now after two and a half years the same thing has happened again. I called the store and asked if this was a design flaw and did they have a recall on them, but the person I spoke to claimed that they have sold very many of these models and no one else has the same problem.

I am 65 years old and have had quite few refridgerators and none of them has ever broken down at all. I believe that the same problem of the fan breaking again is a design flaw and should be fixed by the manufacturer.

It seems like many other people have the same costly repair problem with these models. I would never buy Fisher & Paykal again!!!

    My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522 is similar) has EXACTLY the same symptoms and the reason was a broken fan wire in the freezer compartment (behind the rear panel). The fridge compartment works by drawing air from the freezer and blowing it into the fridge compartment. If the fan in the freezer doesn't work, then your fridge won't get cold (there is another fan in the fridge compartment so it will stay a little cold but not enough).

Fisher & Paykel Model number 402B S.Steel. Bottom frezer top Fridge.


My Fisher & Paykel Model E402B Stainless Steel Fridge/Freezer has a problem. Bottom Freezer is OK but Refrigerator will not work properly, somtimes it will freeze everything now it just warm inside i have checked the the fan and the rubber holding it up has broken also the ice is frozen in the vents can you help i got someone in to fix it but he said it will cost around $600 as there might be more wrong with it, what do you suggest thanks Clare
