Question about Linksys WRT54G3G Wireless Router (WRT54G3G-ST)

2 Answers

I have a Wireless-G Router (Model WRT54G3G-ST). It works with a Sprint mobile broadband card and services. The card works, which is how I am sending this message to you now. When the router is configured it can be seen as an available connection by other computers. The router does not recognize the mobile card. This is the second router - the first was returned because it was "defective" - based on hours of technical support from Lexsys. The same problem occurs with this replacement router. Can you provide a Houston, Texas technical support group that can get this replacement router to work properly with the mobile card?

Doesn't the Sprint mobile broadband work off of a different network that doesn't require the wireless router in the first place.

That service is made to be used anywhere without a wifi router.

Thats news to me. I've always been told that the Vcard works on one computer only. Even if you could get it to work for more than one computer the bandwidth is going to drop big time.

The card works fine. For my house I am attempting to use the vcard with the Linsys wireless router so that more than one person can access the net at the same time. The route is specifically designed to work with this card and service, however i can't seem to get the two to talk to each other. i am looking for some technical group that can make the magic happen.

I live in a remote area where there is no cable available so for the past 4 yrs. I've used a Sprint air card with my Linksys WRT54G3G-ST with no problems. Now it won't work, so I tried the air card...

Check your physical connections. Your air card works directly plugged in. The problem is between either your air card / router or router / computer. Make sure your Linksys setttings match your air card settings and that they did not change. Maybe your router got reset to the default configuration somehow?

Need my USB sprint card to connect with my wireless G router

Well - you are mixing up two different kind of wireless networks.
Your sprint card connects to the same network a cell phone connects to (EV-DO technology), while your local network at home uses a different technology (802.11).
What you need in order to connect to your Linksys router is a USB adapter like this.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

WRT54G3G router (Mobile)

Try this steps.

Go to Network Connections
Properties of Wireless Network Connection
Click Wireless Network Tab on the top
At the bottom, clear the Preferred Network box. Make sure delete all names that are listed.
Click OK all the way out

Enable the WEP on the router.
Now try to connect to the wireless network again with WEP enabled.
Make sure you enter the 10-digit code and not the Passphrase.

If it doesn't connect, try to power cycle the router. Just unplug the power for 30 seconds then reconnect to the wireless network.
That should do it.
