Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to assist with your request. You're requesting the S.A.M.E code for Choctaw County Alabama? I am about to give you the website address to type into your URL address box. From there you will be able to obtain the S.A.M.E code for your county as well as other programming information, if needed, for your radio.

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrAL.htm

Your county's name is listed twice in that list. The reason for this is that your county has two transmitter towers stationed in its broadcasting area. This means your county has two transmitter channels as well. This is helpful if one station's transmitter is out of service. Your S.A.M.E code is the same though in both locations. I hope this website will help you in the future.Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for your problems and requests. Stay safe this Severe Weather Season and stay up-to-date with NOAA Weather Radio broadcasting. Visit our website in the future and have a good day, evening or night; whatever time of day your are viewing this solution post.

How to find correct county

A. First, determine the counties you are interested in. Then do one of the following
three steps to get the codes:

1. The National Weather Service Toll-Free Number provides S.A.M.E.
County Codes at: 1-888-NWS-S.A.M.E or (1-888-697-7263)
This is what to expect when you call the NWS number. When you call the NWS
toll-free number, automated instructions will guide you to the S.A.M.E. County
Code(s) you need. The number will be six digits long.
• You will hear, "Welcome to the National Weather Service. You have
reached the Specific Area Message Encoding Program Service."
• If you select "touch-tone" to make your entries, you will be prompted to
enter the name of your state using the telephone keypad.
• Next you will be prompted to enter your county name.
• Then you will hear, "Your geographic code is xxxxxx." (This is your
S.A.M.E. County Code.) Be sure to write it down for future reference.
The system will then give you the option to enter "another combination": This
enables you to get additional S.A.M.E. Codes for surrounding counties.

2. The Internet Web Site of National Weather Servicewww.
nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm.
This is what to expect when you go to the website.
• The link above takes you directly to the list of states.
• Click on (your state).
• Find your county, and record the "S.A.M.E. #" (the S.A.M.E. County
Code) that is listed to the right of your county, and for any other counties
in which you are interested.

Page 8 www.midlandradio.com

3. Go to the Midland Radio Corporation website at www.midlandradio.com
• Click on the weather radio link at the top of the page.
• At the top of the weather radio page will be the link to the NWS list of
states and corresponding county codes. Click on the link.
• Click on your state and a list of counties and codes will be listed. Locate
your county and then find your code.

To set the country follow the below steps:

A Single S.A.M.E. County Code:

Press "MENU" button to open menu options.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through menu options until "S.A.M.E.
SET" is displayed, then press "SELECT" button.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through: "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or
"ANY."
• Display "SINGLE", then press "SELECT." "S.A.M.E.01" will be displayed.
(Note if you are programming a single S.A.M.E. County Code, only the
"01" setting will be used.) Press "SELECT".
• Using the "UP" arrow, find the first digit of your S.A.M.E. County Code.
Press the "RIGHT" arrow to save the digit and automatically
advance to the next digit.
• Program all digits of your S.A.M.E. County Code in the same way.
• Press "SELECT" to store your S.A.M.E. County Code. Press "MENU"
to close the programming menu.
Helpful Tip: The S.A.M.E. code is created using the following method:
• The first digit is the subcounty code-currently 0 in most areas.
• The second two digits represent the state code.
• The last three digits represent the county code.

Multiple S.A.M.E. County Codes:

Press "MENU" button to open menu options.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through menu options until "S.A.M.E.
SET" is displayed, then press "SELECT" button.
• Press the "UP" arrow to scroll through: "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or
"ANY."
• Display "MULTIPLE" as explained, then press "SELECT".
"S.A.M.E.01" will be displayed, indicating you will be programming your first
S.A.M.E. County Code at weather radio menu location "01."
• After programming your first S.A.M.E. County Code, press "SELECT" then
the "UP" arrow to advance to "S.A.M.E. 02." Program all of your S.A.M.E.
County Codes in the same way as above.
• When finished entering all your codes, press "MENU" to
close the programming menu.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Trying to set weather radio with code for my

Go to this website-http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrAL.htm. If you know what county you live in, find it on there and all of the info you need is right beside the county name. If you live in a county that has more than one transmitter, you will have to try all the frequency channels that are affiliated with that county. Whichever channel transmits the best, is the one that you need.

My Midland Weather Radio is alerting on central Florida Counties when I live on the nature coast (Citrus County). Do I have to prgram in my ZIP for it to know where I reside?

You have to program what is called a "SAME" code specific to your county. These weather radio SAME codes are available from the National Weather Service website. Look up your state, then your county - it will give you the 6 digit code for your country, AND what frequency if closest to you as well. You will want to delete the unused counties, which is the whole idea behind these radios - program ONLY the one or two counties CLOSEST to you. There is also a phone number for these codes. You can also email you local NWS office on their website for assistance. The 6 digit code made up of a 3 digit number for your state and the 3 digit number for your county, making it specific to your location. Let me know if you need more info. Regards.

I need to know my county code

To find the county cod, go here:

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm

This will provide you with a list of states. Click on your state, then look for your county on the left. In your case, that's Randolph County. You'll notice there are 4 listings for Randolph County, but the code is the same for all four locations within Randolph County: 037151. The difference is the frequency on which it's broadcast and the station doing the broadcasting. Just enter in the code as is and your radio will pick up the closest station and frequency to you.

And that's all there is to it!
