Yes,....good Ol' Windows updates. Known to knock a system partially out of commission.
Windows has lost the address to the Audio drivers. The reason it states Audio is working properly, is because Windows is full of it.
The Toshiba Satellite A25 series of Notebook PC's, did not come with Windows 7. It came with Windows XP. You, or someone else installed Windows 7.
The updates knocked the audio driver address file to the curb.
All you have to do, is install the Win7 installation disk again, and perform a Repair.

OR, use the Restoration Disk, (Backup disk)
Toshiba eSupport does not provide audio drivers for Win Vista, or Win 7, for this model. Only Win XP,
