Can't get webcam to work with AIM, why?

I just bought the Logitech QuckCam Communicate STX and have successfully loaded it onto my PC (XP). I only use AOL's AIM. I can not seem to connect with anyone on AIM. I have tested the camera on Yahoo and it works so I know the problem can't be the camera. Or is it? In AIM properties, I have set my Enhanced IM settings correctly like I read online. But it still does not work. I'm close to packing it up and returning it if I can't figure out what's going on. Can anyone help me out? Troubleshoot? Anything? can only see myself on aim webcam noone else why?

To test - download AmCap and run that http://amcap.en.softonic.com/

works on Vista too as Vista has no feature to test webcam in control panel.

Acer 1711 SCi web cam driver issue

You might have a virus or infection that is blocking the installation.

Your Virus Protection might be blocking the installation, try turning it off.

Try installing it in Safe Mode With Networking.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go towww.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When thesite opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says FindSoftware. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the whitesearch area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your resultslook for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it andinstall it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs itwould like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additionswhatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,and you will always know where your webcam software is.

Webcam from toshiba with msn always says it is in

Try this first. Install the Latest Version of DirectX. Before continuing with diagnostics, please make sure you are using the latest release of DirectX. You can download the latest release here. Just copy and paste into your browser.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3

Do this before downloading the newest DirectX.
1.. Unplug the camera.
2.. Uninstall the camera software using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.
1.. Click "Start", "Settings", and "Control Panel".
2.. Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3.. Highlight the Logitech camera software and click the Add/Remove
button. (Change/Remove if you are using Windows XP.)
4.. Install the latest DirectX version from Microsoft.
5.. Reinstall the camera software.
Verify That the Device Has Been Loaded in the Device Manager
When Windows correctly detects the Logitech video camera it will load. 6.. Have the disk available for your webcam as you may be asked for it.

Let me know if this works for you. If not provide me with your brand and model of your webcam and operating system you are using.

Try this.

Go to- http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/tm_5610.html

If you have XP select your driver and utility from under the MS XP

Try- Bison Webcam Driver 5.0.0.5
or Logitech Webcam driver 9.4.0.1120 (these are under drivers and utilities)

For Vista

try- there are 3 drivers, logitech, bison and suyin

and you can also re-download the app

this is most likely a settings issue with your video in vista control panel, not the webcams.

If you cant see any icon on the My computer window. Then you have to see the My computer porperties.
there you can see the hardware tab and hardware settings and see the multimedia devices. see it is working properly.

you can't see after these changes of settings then you have to install the web cam software again on your computer.

Resolution change on my lap top screen when I load my webcam

I had this problem on my PC and I tried everything from updating drivers to re installing the software and updating my graphics card but nothing seemed to work.
And then as a last resort I right clicked on the icon on my desktop and chose properties and clicked on the Compatability tab and unchecked on display settings Run in 640x480 screen resolution.
This worked and did not affect the webcam in anyway.
