Question about Sony MHC-GX250 CD Shelf System

Stereo stuck in demo mode

I have a Sony shelf system that was giving to me because they said it wont turn on so they didnt want it. I looked at it and it seems to be stuck in demo mode and will not turn on no matter what button i push. The front panel doesn't seem to be responding to anything i do. I disconnected the connector thats running from the front panel to the main board, blew out the dust with a can of air and reconnected it. I've done the same with all the connectors since it was pretty dusty inside. Plugged it in and tried to turn it on and get nothing but the demo.

Any Ideas what could be causing this? I was thinking that the AMP board could be bad, or even the front panel board, but im not sure.

I've done some asking around and found out that the memory chip on my stereo needs to be reset. I followed the steps from the manual to reset the radio by pressing 3 buttons. No luck! is there a way i can do it manually? or a site where i can buy a replacement front panel board? or where ever the chip is located. Its 2 main boards.

    Thanks.

How to disable the demonstration (DEMO) mode.
Article ID: 42707 ' Last Updated: 03/11/2014
Sony® stereo systems will enter the DEMO mode the first time you power on the system or if you do not operate the unit shortly after turning on the power to the system.
To disable the DEMO mode, while the stereo system is powered off, press the DISPLAY button repeatedly until the demonstration display disappears.
NOTES:
  • Depending on your model, some units have a DEMO button that is used to disable the demonstration mode. If your unit has this button, with the power to the system off, press the DEMO button until the display disappears.
  • If applicable to your unit, setting the clock on your stereo system will also disable the DEMO mode.
  • Using the buttons on a supplied remote control will not disable the demonstration mode.
If model-specific information is needed to complete any of these steps, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals, Specifications and Warranty information for your Sony product is available online.

Lbt-g2500 is stuck in demo mode

First of all, thank you very much for choosing FIXYA today for your online technical support needs.

Here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/LBTG2500.PDF

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted section of text just above.

This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents, although many computers already have this type of utility pre-installed.

You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 30 of the manual for detailed instructions on HOW TO CANCEL DEMO MODE.

Basically you just have to press the DEMO / DISPLAY button while the system is turned OFF. Otherwise you will have to reset all your programmed settings (clock, radio stations, timer settings).

The DEMO MODE just appears after the unit has been unplugged or following a power failure.

I truly hope that was helpful to you.

Good luck and take care.

Joe.

hello, try this You need to enter MENU mode. To do this you press the little search button next to the volume knob. What you do is hold that button for about 1-2 seconds. It will then come up with menu demo on. I think you press the volume knob and it will go off smile.gif

Sony LBT W5000

According to Page 46 of the LBT-W5000 Operating Instructions:
"The display stars flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you haven't turned on the system (demonstration mode).
Press DISPLAY (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500) or DEMO (STANDBY) (for other models) while the system is off. If the system is in the Power Saving mode, press POWER SAVE / DEMO (STANDBY) (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500). The demonstration appears automatically the first time you plug in the power cord, or if there is a power outage lasting longer than half a day."
I tested this today, as my LBT-W5000 was in Demonstration Mode. It definitely works. The only catch is (at least on the W5000), and it's a minor one, you have to reset your clock afterwards.

Turns itself on

Hey there, you actually need to press the Stop /-DEMO Button when the device is doing the demo mode...it will take about 8 seconds and it will display "DEMO OFF" and turn off. This procedure needs to be run everytime there is a power failure OR you unplug it from the wall.
Pressing the Stop /-DEMO while it is on will cause it to start the demo while it is running!
