Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Power button not working

You didn't say Windows what? makes a big difference you gotta know. Have you tried a safe mode start up by tapping F8 a few times key right after Bios screen blanks & before Win. screen appears. Once in the boot menu choose safe mode. Let it boot then try decreasing the video settings & restart. if that"s not the fix restart in SM & uninstall video driver. It should reinstall a working driver on next start up.

Dell mini inspiron mini won't shut down

Force off by pressing the power button for 10 seconds or more. Boot into safe mode, type msconfig in the run line, disable everything that starts. Restart normally, re-enable each program untill you find the one giving trouble.

How do you reboot a dell netbook

Well, you can go to shutdown and then choose reboot in Windows....But to force a reboot, hold down the laptops power button for a few seconds until the system shuts down. After it has gone black for about 20 more seconds press that power button and the system will boot. Good luck!

Conputer is shutting down but it does not shut down

Hold the power button until the computer shuts down.
Restart and press F8 key repeatedly until you get a start up menu.
Select safe mode from the menu.
After the computer boots up, and you are at the desktop, go to my computer and select properties of the C drive (your system drive). Select tools from the tabs, then defrag. When defrag finishes, select check drive for errors and select the box, to automatically fix errors, and then ok, and yes at next window, allowing the computer to schedule the error check at next boot.
Reboot and allow computer to scan the drive.
After it finishes, you will continue into windows. Allow windows to boot. After it finishes, attempt to shut down again.
If it works, you fixed it. If not, you have a driver or program that will not quit, and you will have to research further to find out what is running and why it won't quit.

My PortegeR100 won't booting

Ok try this, shut the power off after you unplug it. Take out the battery, wait a minute and put it back in. Restart, that should fix it. If it's a larger problem let me know.

Booting

You need to, either, turn it off at the power button when it starts to reboot so as to do a hard shut down, or if that doesn't work,  when it is booting up, press F8 continually until you enter safe mode and then select 'last Known Good configuration', press enter for a reboot and it should be ok.
