Hi Tech,

This behavior indicates the malfunctioning of the keyboard on your notebook ,

I would recommend that you :-

  1. Either go to the authorized service center and get the keyboard repaired with relevant charges.
  2. Or if it's not repairable then you can replace it when your notebook is under warranty/guarantee.
  3. Please don't allow any third party to experiment repair with your keyboard, they could damage it more, therefore authorized service is always a better option.
Hope this helps , your feedback would be appreciated.

Where is the connect to wifi switch?

It depends on what brand of laptop you have. Older laptops sometimes have a physical switch, but often it is one of the function keys on the top row. Look for a little symbol of a wireless tower with little half circles radiating from the top similar to this: tower_1.gif
You may have to press the key at the same time as another key, like Ctrl, Fn, or Alt.

How to turn on numlk for gateway NE56R31u

You may have hit a certain combination of keys on your Gateway laptop and turned on the NumLock function accidentally. The result is that the rectangle of keys from the 7 key down to the question mark key have become a number-entry keypad. Worse, Gateway manuals don't discuss this function.

Hold down the "Fn" key on the bottom row of the keyboard, and press the "NumLk" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F11" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the F11 key and "Scroll Lk" key simultaneously. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F9" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "Scroll Lk" key. Type the letters UIO. They should come up as letters. If none of these help, then it's probably a keyboard malfunction and you'll need to get it repaired.

Above my scroll/# lock the lightbar is lit,and some letters produce #... i = 5 etc

Sounds like yo have the scroll lock or num lock turned on. If the scroll key is a colored key (the scroll lk lettering is blue) then you will have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the scroll key to turn it off. When it is turned on if you press the letter i you get the number 5. If you press the letter O you get the number 6.

Notice that the numbers on the keys that have letters are a different color than the letters (blue most times). That means you have to Press and Hold the blue FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the key with the same color if you want the colored representation to happen.

Some laptops will use a Square Box instead of the blue colors on the keys. In that case you have to press and hold the key a the lower left portion of the keyboard that has the square box, then hit the key you want.

Can`t figure out keyboard on acer aspire one, blue numbers and letters etc Karl

blue number etc are functions that are connected to the blue fn button in the left hand corner.
press and hold the blue fn button and at the some time one of the other buttons.
eg volume + or - for volume up and down or the moon shape for hibernate, or the sun to change the screen brightness, antenna button to switch on and of your bluetoot or wifi, or the screen button to switch on and off your external monitor port on the back etc. the blue number are your numeric keypad like on a normal keyboard this can be used in the same way by holding the blue fn button down at the same time.

Keyboard letters wont work but only top row Of numbers

On a notebook computer, there is a FN key that when pressed with the appropriate special function key will disable the normal keyboard and enable the alternate letters (printed in a different color) on your keyboard.
Unfortunately, I can't remember which special function key that is--but the icon on it should give you a clue.

Wan connection

In newer laptops, turning on the WAN (wifi) radio receiver is done via keyboard key combination.

Look closely at the function keys. Do you see any wifi radio icon printed in orange or any color that is not similar to the normal key color? In some model, a wifi icon (looks like a wave like ")))" is in F2. Now pressing FN+F2 turns the wifi ON. Press and hold down the FN key and press F2 (or the key where the wifi icon is printed) to turn on your WAN.
