You can try a silcone spray, that shouldnt damage any plastics or rubber. Also check the door seal. Make sure its clean. Sometimes, cordials, coke etc spill onto the door gasket and become all sticky which causes some wierd noises when you open the door.

Fridge door not closing properly

Hello,

This section of this refrigerator door repair guide will walk you though repairing a refrigerator door on a side-by-side refrigerator. On most side-by-side refrigerators there is a cam that lifts the door up when you open the door so that the door has a tendency to fall down and back into place while it is closing. If the refrigerator has a cam and it is working properly, the refrigerator door will rise up when you open it and lower when you close it. If this cam is broken the door will not close properly. A lot of refrigerators have two cams, one screwed on the door and one on the hinge. You may have to replace the entire hinge to replace the lower cam but the cam on the door can always be replaced. You will have to order the cam by model number and can do so on this website AppliancePartsPros.com.

On side-by-side refrigerators without cams there will be a spacer on the door hinge. If this spacer is missing replace it. Note that any plastic spacer will work as long as it will go on the hinge pin and is not too thick. Never use a metal spacer because this will cause wear on the door and it will eventually squeal when closing.

As on top-freezers the door gasket may be ripped and if so refer to the bottom section that talks about door gasket replacement.

Sometimes the door can get warped out of shape. If the door is closing at the top and not at the bottom or vice versa the door may be warped out of shape. You can fix this by twisting the door back into shape. Take you foot and place it at the bottom and pull the door out at the top or place your foot inside the door at the bottom and push at the top with your hand depending on which way you need to twist the door. Note don’t over do it twist it a little and if it isn’t enough twist it a little more. If it gets worse you may need to twist the other way.

hope this helpout ......

Door makes a grinding sound when opening it

Very likely you will have to replace the door cams. One is attached to the bottom of the door and one is attached to the Lower hinge bracket. You will have to remove the door and lay it on its front, to get to the cam on the door. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

REFRIDG DOOR OPENS A LITTLE WHEN I CLOSE THE FREEZER

Yes I think it's the door closing cam broken and worn away.To replace, Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips. Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

Refrigerator door stays open.

Sears came out and repaired my door with this same problem. It was a pretty easy fix. There is a small black part that the door rests on. It just was worn out. The repairman simply unscrewed the door from the top of the refrigerator. He lift the door off. The door normally rest on a black round circular plastic part about 1 in in diameter. It has a small plastic piece sticking up about 1/2 inch that the door rests on. This piece was worn on bottom. I have the Sears invoice and I bought a replacement bin for the door and I don't know which item is for the black plastic piece. Here are both part numbers so call Sears and order the correct part
CAM-DOOR 46 106 4318165 1 or $14.83
SUB TRIM-DOO 46 106 2156022K 1 $12.48
It took the Sear's guy about 10 minutes to repair. So save yourself $200 and do it yourself.

There is a picture of the part in the Whirlpool Manual, under Door Removal, look at the bottom hinge.

Email me if you need another picture.

Right Door is making loud popping noise

After reading these posts, I fixed my refrigerator door in less than 5 minutes. The little black plastic cam on the bottom hinge was loose. To fix it, take the hinge cover off of the top with an 8mm socket, and remove the three 8mm screws holding the top hinge on. Remove the door by lifting up off of the bottom hinge and set it aside. On the bottom hinge is a black plastic cam held on by an 8mm screw. The screw on mine was really loose. Tightening it and putting the door back on made it work like new. You probably don't have a bad cam, just a loose one.
