I have a LG RU-60SZ30. After the TV runs for a few minuits it turns off. The lamp indicator flashes for a few seconds then goes dark leaving the red operation indicator red showing standby mode (off). The fan continues to run normally. Could the fan be weak causing an overheat?
I replaced my ballast as well as lamp in my ru60sz30 as well. can you help me with the connections? do you have pictures? I'm not sure if i connected something wrong because my tv still is shutting off after blinking...I replaced my ballast as well as lamp in my ru60sz30 as well. can you help me with the connections? do you have pictures? Hi richgpilot,
May I know how many blinks does the led light before it goes to standby mode. It will help diagnose where the exact fault came from.

This is not an overheat issue ( if the temp led light does not flashes or lit).
Lamp led flashes because the processor sense lamp malfunction. Most of this symptoms indicated that the lamp is already faulty which trigger the protection circuit to avoid overload to the ballast board. First you may check the connectors of the lamp, pull-out it and then re-connect to ensure the connection.
If the symptom still persist, you must replaced the lamp with new one to back your unit in normal operation again.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

What you need is to have the lamp timer reset. To do so, perform the following;
You will need two hands.
With the remote, press and hold down the "mute" button.
Simultaneously press and hold down the "enter" button on the front of the TV.
After about 5 seconds, a box will appear that shows the total number of hours on the lamp. To reset these hours, press the right arrow button on the remote. After doing so, another box will appear with a confirmation question and an icon for which button on the remote to press to reset the lamp hours.
I have read another solution which may indicate the light engine has failed and will likely need replacing. The cost is quite expensive. $1500 range and apparently the part is no longer available from LG. Best you might do is get an estimate to repair just to be sure.
If the second light is blinking to orange or red, that is usually the lamp indicator light on an LG DLP tv. That indicates your bulb needs replaced, or something surrounding the bulb has failed (like the cooling fan for the bulb for example) IF you have a spare bulb handy, I'd replace the bulb, keeping in mind if you touch any part of a new bulb with your bare hands, you just cut the life of the bulb by more then half.
Depending on what light is flashing it could be a few things. If the Lamp light (the middle one) is flashing that is problem with or around the lamp. That orange or amber light is an indication that the lamp is reaching the end of its life
If it is the Temperature light (the far right one) then the TV is shutting down because it is over heating and you need to check the cooling fan.
We have had our RU-60SZ30 for almost 3 years. After 13 months it did the same thing, LG covered the cost of the part,($3000.00) according to their certified repair center, but they charged us $500.00 for labor. Now today, 15 months later it is doing it again. I just got off the phone with LG and they say "too bad, you're out of warranty" So my TV that I paid $4000.00 for, has gone out twice in less than 36 months and LG says, "Oh well"
After searching the web I found a law firm in New York that looks like they are putting together a class action suit regarding our model.
Go to WWW.ZLK.COM/ZENITHTV.HTML and fill in the questionaire.
It flashes 8 times after the bulb shuts off
Thanks for the diagnosis!
