Golflogix locks up

I have been using the Golflogix GPS unit for 3 months and recently it started locking up when I'm on the course. When I turn the unit on, I am not able to push any buttons to wake up the unit. I have remove the batteries to turn the unit off. I then have to download the courses again and I can usually get through one round without it locking up.

Any advice? A friend of mine bought the same unit when I did, and his unit has done this once,

Same as described above...it locked up on me today. I removed batteries and that does not fix the problem. Nothing fixes the problem so far. It is locked on a single golf course and no keys work.

Same situation...locksup all the time. Sometime in the middle of a round, sometimes after and couple of rounds, and sometimes when I just turn it on. Have to replace batteries, and reload. Does not fix the problem. I understand via other message boards that there was to be a software "fix" to download by Sept 1, 2008.. I can't find it...and Golflogix customer support is non-existant! Any help phone numbers to talk to anybody at Golflogix would be appreciated.

I have had nothing but problems with my GOLFLOGIX. Garbage!!! It locks up and I also have downloading issues with Vista and Windows 7. It would get 40-60% through the download and crash dump my computer. I have a 2009 Dell Studio 1737 with 320GB and 4 GB. I know its not my system. I have talked to support and they can't help me either. Its junk!! Through the junk in the trash!!

I have same problem and received the following reply from Golflogix:

We have recently released the Windows Vista, and Windows XP software update to solve this issue. It is a process where our technicians will have to manually place the software update on your computer. We would be more then happy to go through the process of setting up the software on your PC.
To reach us to install the software update please call 1-877-977-0162. We are open Monday – Friday 7AM – 6PM Pacific Standard Time. When you call it is important that you are by the computer with your GPS unit and connecting USB cable.
If you are a MAC user please contact our customer service department for further information.

Have the solution.

In the last month Golflogix has completed thier plan to address this issue:

Current:
Call them, a technician will take over your PC and install the fix...takes like 3 minutes, painless. Have your unit connected to the PC when you call.

Future:
They have promised to load fix on their website or as part of a general software upgrade.

My Golflogix keeps on searching for satellites. Using it for the first time, do I need to be on the course?

No, you do not need to be on a course for it to acquire satellites, however new units sometimes need to be left outside with clear sky view for up to 30 minutes to fully acquire signals.

How do I reste my golflogix

I had that a ways back. Go into your course manager, and click help, one of the options says restore. After you do that, reload your courses, and , get this, you have to leave the gps outside for 8 hours! Old gps, it has to manually build maps of satttelites. I did that once, and it fixed it, it happened again 6 months later, and it didn't fix it. They told me that it was dead, and had me mail it in to get a new gps8 for cheap.

GolfLogix GPS Receiver: I have a golflogix 8 and I can not get beyond the ...

The cable can be a pain. It has to be slid all the way down to the very bottom of the socket on the gps, even when its tight, it might not be connected all the way. I usually wiggle it left and right while pushing it down.

Unit does not respod to course manage after updating software

Restore unit bookmark

Go to the help button in the upper right hand corner of your course manager. There will be a bunch of questions that appear down

the right hand side. The bottom one should say How do I restore my golfgps. Press that, and press the button that comes up that

says restore. With the gps plugged in and turned on, and with fresh batteries in it, it will quickly move to say that your gps has been restored. Press Ok, and

turn the gps off , count to five, and turn it back on. It should now recognize your unit again.

Golglogix locking up

Make sure to wait until you press okay on your computer when loading courses before you unplug the unit. I was jumping the gun, unplugging it right when it turned off, and causing that issue myself with mine.
