Reattachment of LT1046 mower deck is very difficult due to lack of clearance within deck fixture for spring-loaded pin. Very difficult to align. I can only think to loosen nuts on tension rods at front hinge, then retighten after pins are in. Any recommendations? Manual is totally silent on reattachment.

I had the same problem reattaching the 46" deck on my Cub Cadet Lt1045 lawn tractor. The instructions for removal are not reversible for reattachment. The following instructions for reattaching the deck are not found in the manual and not on line either as far as I can tell.

Step 1. Remove the pins with cotter pins that hold the U shaped bar that supports the front of the deck allowing the removal of this bar.

Step 2. With the deck below the mower and the lever on the left fender in the lowest position, align vertically the deck rear pin holes with the holes in the arms used top raise and lower the deck. Move these arms down until the holes line up and run the spring loaded pins into the holes.

Step 3. Put the U shaped bar into the slots on the front of the deck and pull it forward and secure it to the front of the mower by reinstalling the pins and cotter pins the same way it was before you removed it.

Step 4. Re-install the deck belt onto the engine pulley according to other instructions found in FixYa. And you're done.

I'm reassembing a Kenwood Chef A901 Food Mixer. I'm defeated by how to reattach the red squarish knob that serves mincer attachments.

Reassembling complex kitchen appliances like the Kenwood Chef A901 can be challenging, especially when dealing with small parts and intricate mechanisms. Here's a general guideline on how to reattach the red squarish knob and spring for the mincer attachment on your Kenwood Chef A901 food mixer:
  1. Positioning the Spring:
    • Insert one end of the spring through the small hole in the middle of the lever shaft.
    • The other end of the spring should be positioned to rest against the inside of the plastic housing where it creates tension. This tension is what allows the lever to snap into different positions.
  2. Reattaching the Red Squarish Knob:
    • Position the red squarish knob over the lever shaft, aligning it with the spring.
    • Gently press down on the knob while simultaneously aligning the pin at the top of the lever shaft with the grooves on the gearbox housing.
    • Apply gentle downward pressure while rotating the knob slightly to align the pin with the grooves. The goal is to guide the pin into the grooves and allow it to slide into place.
  3. Testing the Reattachment:
    • Once the knob is in place, test the lever's movement. It should have a spring-loaded action, allowing it to snap into different positions as you rotate it.

How to level the mower deck

There are many possible answers, but the best way I've found and for all types of mowers is:
Put the mower on a level garage floor or pavement area. Rise the mower deck to the highest level. By hand (everything off, of course), position both blade tips to the furthest outside edge of the mower deck (widest from tip to tip). Use two wood blocks or equivalent sized objects and place them under the blade tips. Find something that comes very close to the blade but doesn't touch. This is so you can see a gap for reference sake. Adjust the linkages (usually long links, from front of tractor) until the spacing is the same between both blade tips and the objects under them.
The manual has you measuring the blade tips. I find blocks or spacers easier...

2000 craftman lawn tractor 917.270822 blades will not engage

If your blades won't engage when you raise the lever to engage them AND that lever moves freely without the normally expected resistance, then you've lost the cotter pin that connects the lever rod to the mower deck assembly. Very easy fix! Using the mower deck raise/lower lever, lower the mower deck to "down" position. Now, lay on your side along the right side of the mower and look up (use a flashlight) under the mower at the top of the mower deck while moving the blade engagement lever "up" (which pushes the connected rod down). At the end of the rod, you will see a hole where the mower deck and rod connect. Align the hole at the end of the rod with the matching "pin" on the mower deck (you'll see it) and insert a new cotter pin to secure them together. Use a nail if you don't have a cotter pin. Voila! you are done. The blade engagement lever will now engage/disengage your mower blades successfully. Just remember that mower deck must be down, or lowered, before you engage the blades!

1046 cub done 120hrs 12mths old replaced all pullies bearing use 5 belts in 12mths belts keep comeing off is this a problem with this modle 2009

hi,
on some cubs there are two holes for the spring loaded pulley adjustment arm. take the deck back off and look at the spring loaded pulley arm mechanism, if theres two holes , take the bolt out that holds the adjustment arm down and move it to the other hole. theres two holes for the spring too, try the other hole, make sure your spring isnt upside down. putting the spring back on is difficult. connect it to the front first then come around the back with a spare piece of rope, put it on the spring and pull on the rope to get the spring back on the mower deck. use eye protection and be careful.

How do you replace a drive cable on a toro recycler 6.5 hp.

Its a bit of a pain - but with ordinary tools, it can be done. Get the replacement cable first. You can see how the bottom spring wraps around the cable with a universal joint sort of arrangement. Remove the belt protector (three screws from the top deck; if you have a battery compartment, that will temporarily need to go. Release the old cable from the top and middle attachment points, then unhook the spring from the traction lever. You might need to destroy the old cable lock to the mower deck to remove the old cable. Remove the plastic cup next to the cable where it exits the mower deck. Replace parts in this order: New spring/cable to the traction lever, snap in plastic interface to mower deck, small plastic cup top cable attachment, then middle attachment. You might need to move the middle attachment after you give it a test run. Replace belt cover and battery compartment if necessary. A lot of steps but, except for a difficult fit to get the spring hooked up, nothing is really difficult. I paid about $30 for the replacement cable from a local dealer; Overpriced, but I wanted to get the job done today.

Im having a problem with the mower primary v

Most times, belt wear is the result of mis-aligned pulleys and guide pulleys or damage to them from foreign objects. Some are spring loaded, and if the spring is not positioned properly, the tension on the belt is affected and the belt will prematurly wear. Check to be sure that each pulley is smooth, and rolls freely, some will have grease zerks that should be periodically lubricated, some will be factory sealed for lubrication. Look at the belt to see if fraying is present (bad pulley, or alignment) or just a break that might indicate a seizing up on one of the pulleys. Any objects in the belt path?
