I purchased a gateway lap top and my kids got ahold of it and took some buttons off and I was just wondering how I can fix it. I know that there is some keyboards and the keys out there but I am not good at computers so I am not sure which one is better. It is a gateway NV54692 LAptop. Thanks for your time and help

Had a similar issue on my Gateway laptop not long ago and ordered
the proper disks from Gateway for under 20 bucks and it only took a few days to get them via courier.so here is the link http://us-store.gateway.com/.Sadly when we bought computers years ago

if your charger is ok then it will be a problem with the dc jack (where your charger plugs in to) or your actual motherboard.

if you want to use your old drive in your new laptop then your have go for new case 2.5" case which will fix your old HDD from USB prot u will able to use

frist chack your HDD it's ID or SATA according that u buy a case

First use the following steps:

1 Disconnect the battery and the charger
2 Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Connect the charger (don't connect the battery yet) and try to start by pressing the power button.


If everything remain same, check the charger with a multimeter and match the voltage output with its specs.

If the charger is good, then there can be some problem with the DC jack (where you connect the charger).

It won't switch on at all, the power light is on at the front and the battery light shows re-charging. But when I press the power button on top nothing happens
