HOPEFULLY TO INSTALL WEBCAM START ALL PROGRAMS ARCSOFT WEBCAM COMPANAIN LAUNCH UTILITY ARCSOFT WEBCAM INSTALLING WEBCAM AND SOFTWARE? THEN YOU SHOULD SEE DRIVER SOFTWARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY
If you give your make and model of the laptop I would be able to help you more specifically.
Generally, most laptops use a keyboard shortcut to turn on or off the webcam.
1. Look at the top of the keyboard at the F1 - F12 keys. 2. If you look carefully you will see tiny pictures on the F1- F12 keys. 3. Look for a picture that represents a camera. (e.g. F6) 4. Now look at the lower left hand corner of the keyboard and find the fn key (Function key) 5. Press and hold the fn key and then press the F key that has a picture of a camera to turn on the webcam. (e.g. F6) You should see a light turn on next to the webcam at the top of the laptop. 6. Now you can use your webcam in Skype or a similar program.
Good luck, please post back to this solution if you have any difficulties, and thanks for using FixYa.
It sounds as if the drivers were uninstalled or became corrupted in some way. The problem is that the drivers for this webcam are not downloaded separately but are native to Windows 7.
Try this solution and post back if it worked or not. If it doesn't work, I will attempt to help you further.
1. Turn on the webcam via the FN+F6 keys.
2. Press Win+R to open the Run command.
3. Type "devmgmt.msc into the dialog box and press enter to open Device Manager.
4. Find the extra "USB Composite Device" and right click on it.
5. Select "Update Driver" and click "Search automatically for updated driver software".
Windows should find the appropriate driver and install it. If it doesn't, then post back here and I will help you further.
You are sure you have a webcam, right? In the manual, it shows the webcam as optional. Is a webcam listed on the box, the white label with the serial #, that the netbook came in?
If you do have one, you have to turn it on first. The manual, pg 2-9, tells you how to turn it on. Press the Fn+F6 keys at the same time(or while holding down the Fn key, press the F6 key) to turn the webcam on and off.
Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.
I believe holding down the Fn button (on the bottom left of the keyboard) and F6 turns the webcam off and on. If it is off, it won't be seen by windows at all. Just hit Fn and F6 at the same time and you should be all set. The F6 key even has a small picture of what should be a webcam.
You have to hit the blue Function key (Fn - bottom left on keyboard), at the same time as you hit the F6 key. You'll see an icon come up on your display (bottom right corner) that shows a webcam. To turn it off, use the same procedure and you'll see ther same icon but with a red circle with an "x" in it. This is called "toggling" it on and off. The webcam will only work when you launch an application that uses the webcam.
To connect to a Bluetooth device that has pictures on it that you want to offload onto your PC: You'll need to turn your Bluetooth on (Fn key plus F11 - hit it once for wireless, twice to turn on Bluetooth; Toggle to turn each on and off). Click on Search for Devices and it will auto-detect the camera/phone/other device.
hold the Fn key located in the very bottom left hand corner and at the same time, press one of the F keys numbered 1-12 with the picture of a little webcam on it. a picture will appear in the right hand corner of the screen and this means that next time you click your webcam it should be on. the webcam key on my advent notebook is F6 and i have the model 4489, it may be different for other models.
i don't know how to do bluetooth - have a play with the other F keys.
have you tried the Fn + F6 key combo? you can then use the cyberlink youcam software that is on the programs menu - i think you might have to register the software whne you first set it up.
