Hello, first check if the outside unit is running, if it is then check filter to make sure it is clean and that the blower wheel is clean and not dirty. If the unit is clean then most likely you have a low refrigerant charge due to a leak and will need a hvac tech to come out and fix the leak.
Water leakages out the front are usually attributed to poor drainage. IE , the wall unit is not sloping slightly to the rear, or in the case of a split system, the drain hose is not directed down and away from inside. I would suggets checking the filters first. If the filters are blocked, and the cooling is set really low, its possible for the coil to start freezing and thus, leak water out the front. If the filters are clean and the coil is still freezing, you may have a gas shortage . Eventually when the gas runs out, the water leak will stop and the unit wont cool at all. If the system is working properly, on cooling mode, there should be cold air inside and the unit should be blowing hot air outside. If on heating mode, the reverse happens...
Hi, It seems as though you have an unrelated water leak.... Often the water supplies are copper tubing.... Copper tubing and concrete do not get along well... but hey it lasts till the warranty is up.... and they can't see it from their house...
The leakage is probably from condensation and there should be some sort of drain for it. You should check to see if it is clogged or partially clogged. Also since you say it does it when it hasn't operated for a while you may want to check out where the lines pass through the wall and make sure that it is sealed up there so you don't get leakage from out side.
service once a year clean dirt and hose the coil out make sure power to outdoor unit is off also make sure you keep a new air filter change about every 2 months you should also have a tech test you pressures this could cause poor cooling also need to clean inside coil also a service tech will probaly need to do this good luck
Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops. Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit. Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows. Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal. The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!
soundls like the condensate drain is clogged and coil is dirty. look for a plastic pipe inlet where water would flow to.. you may be able to clear it by blowing it out with compressed air. you can also pour bleach into it to address the mold problem. if the coil is icing up it is because it is dirty. to verify this, let the unit run in ac mode for about an hour and check to see if you have air flow from the vents. if you do not, then the cooling coil is covered in ice, thus blocking air flow. you should have a qualified ac person clean the coil and check the refrigerant charge on the unit. one thing to consider, change your ac filter often, at least once a month in hot weather.
