Using a windows install disk...Start the computer press F1 to start from the cdrom
when you turn on the thinkpad, press F1,This goes to your bios..

Start the computer press
any key to start from disk and then press R for repair when prompt this will go in
to DOS command prompt Press 1 and the enter for C: Windows.. If there's a password press enter..
Type ....CHKDSK C: /P /R ......... C: Is your O/S hard drive...don't turn off the computer it may take hours 20 gig hard drive not long...when finished checking disk type exit remove install disk and restart the computer....

Sorry it took so long I had to research.. I have a think pad e600 I fixed mine with the installtion disk because the type of harddrive.. It would not go in any of my other computers SATA or IDE even though it is an IDE HDD but IBM is different..
