Question about Audio Players & Recorders
Seems the laser finally reached end of life. Cleaning does not help,
increasing laser power is just temporary solution. So decided to replace
the KSS-240A laser head.
I am quite familiar with electronics (over 20 years in R&D) and well equiped (Tektronix 200MHz), but suppose I do need proper documentation and
may be some good advices. Would somebody help?
The laser assy should come complete if its only the eye itself only loosen one slide rail and slide the old one off and the new one in this keeps the laser alignment intact .coloneus

Sounds like the laser has become weak. If this is the case, the laser assy. will need to be replaced. Lasers can cost anywhere from 20.00ea to 150.00ea. Then you must consider the labor rates too. If you are unsure about repairing you can try to take the cover off the unit and look at the laser assy. It should have a number on it that starts with KSS-XXX. Where XXX is a 3 digit number.
If you want to you can email me with this number and I will let you know what this laser costs and then you can make a decision from that point. email at firstname.lastname@example.org
