Question about Kitchen Ranges

I need to replace the rubber gasket in my Coleman Peak 1 Backpacking stove. I bought a replacement pump which it is too long for my stove, but is the only thing I could find in Seattle. How do I get the rubber gasket off the new pump and put it on the old without tearing the rubber gasket?

Oven door will not close completely, therefore oven light is always on and the outside manual switch doesn't turn light off or on. The gasket around the window is brittle and coming away from its anchors in a number of places. I would think it needs to be replaced. Where is this part available? either on line or in Toronto, ON. How do I replace the oven door gasket on my VGIC3686

Replacing a Door Gasket

If the oven won't heat to the desired temperature or heats unevenly, the problem could be a defective door gasket. The best way to test for this is to pass your hand around the door, being careful not to touch it, while the oven is turned on. If you can feel heat escaping, the gasket needs replacement. Replace it with a new gasket made for the range.

On most ovens, the gasket is located on the frame of the oven, and the door closes against it. This gasket is generally friction-fit in a channel and can be replaced. In other units, the oven door has two sections, and the gasket is not mounted on the door frame, but is installed between the front and back sections of the door. Don't try to replace this type of gasket; call a professional service person. Here's how to replace a frame-mounted gasket:

Step 1: Pull the old gasket out of the channel. On some oven door frames the gasket is held in place with screws. To get at the screws, bend back the exposed edge of the gasket.

Step 2: Clean the channel and the door frame with a solution of mild household detergent and water.

Step 3: To install the new gasket, start the replacement at the top of the door frame and work down the sides, easing the gasket around corners. Finish the installation along the bottom, butting the ends of the gasket firmly together.

Cleaning cycle on my stove discolored, (Yellow) my door and the top edge of the stove top and door.

It sounds like your door gasket may need to be replaced. It is the rope looking piece around the oven cavity. It is designed to keep the heat in the oven and it sounds like yours is flattened or missing and needs to be changed out or replaced.

krimkramm, any luck finding a solution? www.spiritburner.com seems to be a great source of information if you are still trying to fix your Coleman 400A. If you would like to sell it, I am looking for one for my local Boy Scout troop. Send me an email at braddotroberson@verizondotnet after replacing the dots with a you-know-what.

My coleman stove does not let the propane pass from the hose to the burner. I have determined that the hose is releasing the propane as I can depress the nozzle and get the gas to flow. The stove is clean...

This is a camp stove issue. I fixed it with my tire pump. I opened up all the valves, duck taped the hose to the stove valve and pumped air thru the system. No more blockage. Works like a charm.

I have heard two things that could improve your stove. I had the same "bursting into flame" issue last weekend while camping. First, move the black handle back and forth a few times. That is supposed to clean the jet. Second, take the generator off and hit it with a blowtorch. That should clean out the deposites on the inside. Or you can purchase new generators (just make sure you get the correct one).

Coleman stove, model 412-5621, will not pressurize the fuel tank. The pump appears to need some replacement part or parts. What should I do?

disassemble the pump by removing the c-shaped ring aroudn the metal cap. a flathead screwdriver will work to pry off the ring.

pull out the pump assembly. The end is probably a old dried out leather ring. It needs oil (car motor oil shoudl be fine) and it needs to make a tight seal.

if it is too loose, it might be possible to press it out to make it wider. If not, it needs to be replaced. The pump assembly is about 8 dollars at many stores.
