It's not a leak. I just had this happen to mine. The defrost drain is likely clogged with ice, so when water needs to get to the evaporator pan, it ends up backflowing into the freezer compartment. Rather than take apart the freezer section, I had to unplug the fridge for 24 hours to ensure that the ice buildup (it's a dime-sized hole) had all melted away. It's been a month since I did it, and no more ice in the bottom of the freezer, or water on my floor.

Ice buildup in bottom of freezer--puddle of water on floor

this sounds like your freezer is operating properly, except that the drainage of the water when going through the defrosting mode is not draining properly, pooling on the bottom of the freezer and then freezing. Check the drainage hose for the defrost in the lower pan. I would remove everything, place in ice chest, let the unit completely thaw out and then inspect. I hope this is beneficial.

I HAVE WATER ON THE FLOOR. ONCE A day.

hello, you may have a frozen drain in the bottom of the freezer behind the back panel. So when the unit goes into defrost the water runs out the front and onto the floor. A good sign to a frozen drain is a sheet of ice on the freezer bottom. You can use a hair dryer or boiling water to thaw the drain. Hope this helps. thanks and dont forget to rate me:)

Model #GSH25JSTCSS---Not getting any water from the water dispenser but still have ice coming out---What's the problem?

I have this same model and problem. The water line may be frozen inside the freezer door. (the line enters at the bottom hinge area of the freezer door)

Shut the unit off and leave the freezer door open ( you will need to remove your stuff you want to save first)

Next disconnect the line coming out of the Freezer door near the bottom hinge (should be a quick disconnect coupler, you will need to remove the front air grill assy to allow access to the line/coupler) and lay the line out on the floor.

After thawing the water should run out the line leaving a small puddle on the floor. Reconnect the line, plug the unit back in and test your dispenser.

Although this method restored my water dispenser to working condition, other possible causes for this include the line freezing up in the refridgerator section, bad water valve, bad relay on the motherboard, that triggers the water valve, bad motherboard. Hope this helps.

Kenmore fridge, 7 yrs old, freezer on top. Water sprays periodically from somewhere at top inside of refrigerator, apparently from downward pointing chute or holes on either side. This seems to be part of...

Removed inside rear and floor panels of freezer (ice machine also) as ably advised by your tech. Found ice damming he suspected underneath floor panel. Thawed overnight with pot of hot water in freezer. could see that small rear drain tube was iced shut; why all water going into fridge below. Avoided floor mess from thawing water flow to evaporation pan on floor by tilting unit forward on blocks and laying several old towels inside freezer door to catch water that would run out. Also placed some in front at base of unit on kitchen floor. Continuing to thaw pipe to unclog, it is iced some way down, again as tech said it might. Will reassemble and be careful with freezer setting, in case it may have been too cold. Also, some food crumbs had found their way behind panel near this drain tube and may have fallen in to block it. Will clean out any remaining.
