How to add a Switch to Power on and Off HT830 . I just want to use this with my home Stereo System. Is there a Jumper to Install to bypass the CN 501 Socket

I would wire in an on/off toggle switch just AFTER the fuse that tends to blow out. Its the fuse discussed it another post here on fixay. Currently you can see it at the following address: http://www.fixya.com/support/t120423-display_front_dvd_player_not_working
The fuse mentioned is specifically a fast acting .0 amp fuse from Little Fuse Inc PT# 0491.400MAT1 (FUSE, FAST ACT 125V FA 0.40 Amps). I just ordered this fuse from Digikey.com because my display stopped working. Everything else on the stereo still worked, just the display would not come on. So, installing a toggle switch just after the fuse would seem to me to be an easy way to turn the display on and off, and still have the stereo functional.

How do I know If the fuse that needs replaced is a "slow blow" or "fast acting" fuse?

Look at the stampin on the fuse, if it has TXXA 250V, then it is a slow blow fuse type (T = Time dealy), some may be stamped with SLO-BLO XXA 250V on it.
Post pictures if you are not sure.

I have the same problem. The fuse blows every time I plug the Sony STR-DE135 into the wall. I did not find the F901 at Radio Shack, so I bought a fast acting 5 Amp 125V Fuse at the Hardware store. It blew...

There is usually one or two normal clicks on power-up. A self-protection relay activates after a short delay for circuit and power stabilization plus some internal cheking for shorts and thermal issues.

If it keeps blowing fuses you are stressing it a bit more every time you feed it another one. I'd get it in to a Pro for repair.

Can't find 2A 125v fuse replacement for on-off will 250v be OK?

There is no difference between a 125v and 250v fuse. The most important thing is the 2Amp. This fuse is probably the line fuse and could be the only trouble and may have blow with a line surge. Make sure the 2A you use is a Fast Blow Type. If it does blow again you most likely have a internal power supply failure.

NAD C270 amp won't switch from red power/protection to green.

The AH may denote "slo-blo" style as opposed to Fast-acting
A fast-acting fuse will look like a single strand of wire ( maybe wiggly looking) ..A Slo-blo will have an element in it and a spring

Z-5300 blown fuse

When fuses blow theres a problem, now how it blows help you find out where the problem is, If the fuse flashes and turns black the second you turn it on or plug it in there is a massive short in the power supply, If it blows but is clear the surge was not a dead short but a overload, Either way best to run it down to the shop and get it looked at

Denon PMA 520 fuse blown

Check that you are replacing the fuse with the correct type first. Fuses marked with a T following the rating are "slo blo" fuses and if a fast blow is used instead, it will fail again at turn on. Otherwise, the amp will have a fault occurring, probably in the output stages. You should refer this type of fault to a repair guy that knows HiFi. as this sort of repair needs an experienced touch.

Blown Fuse, needs fix'n

You CAN open the unit (keep in mind that even unpluged there is still voltage runing through the system, so.... dont fry) and you will notice, if the face of the unit is towards you you will see on the left hand side a power supply board, the fuse is on that board, and it is a tube fuse, 125V 8A. Most stores do not carry the 125V version anymore, but will carry a 250V. This is okay to use where the voltage is not the main purpose of the fuse.
