Question about Fujitsu Siemens SCENIC P300 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Pc won't boot

While trying out 'EasyCleaner' registry software i deleted all duplicate files the program found. When i shut down my system and tried to start it again -well nothing loads. I can get into the windows utilities and the bios set up but nothing happens from there. I can't boot up in safe mode or set system to last known working config - basically nothing happens.
Maybe it can't locate MBR due to files i deleted.

Try going to the task manager to check if you have too many processes running on the background that may be consuming resources. You can open it by pressing the Ctl+Alt+Del keys on your keyboard at the same time.

Computer is very slow

Try defraging.
If your willing to spend money
get more RAM it worked for me, ask someone or look it up, about how much ram your computer can "handle" and buy the RAM stick according to your pc max capacity

No, in almost all cases upgrading your computer wil only make it run slower. If you want to improve the computers speed there a couple things you can do. 1) Run spyware/virus scans, 2) Add RAM to increase computer speed, 3) Defrag
Software Critics says,

Try these--Highly Effective Ways to Optimize PC Speed made simple
Solution: 1: Create restore point and take registry backup.
2: Delete all temp files.
3: Delete all unwanted software's and security software's from add/remove program.
4: Disable all unwanted services from startup and then remove from registry.
5: Reset internet explorer and then register all .dll files.
6: Scan with spyware removal malwarebyte, hijackthis and Trojan removal.
7: Check windows update if found and then download and install.
8: Defrag C: drive
9: Restart the computer, and then check it.
A big NO NO: It's not recommended to edit registry before upgrading a PC or even making a slow PC faster as some registry cleaners can scrape out old registry entries of which some may be necessary to keep some programs running! And avoid websites trying to sell you something unnecessary.

'Download and run the Norton Removal Tool'
Web URL:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=con_ols_nam

After uninstalling Norton Product, you will have to remove the left over
Symantec folders (Common Shared folders). Follow the steps as mentioned:

-- On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows
Explorer.
-- Delete the program installation folders for all Symantec program that
were installed.

If you accepted the defaults, the installation folders will be in C:\Program
Files and will have the name of the program that you installed. Here are the
default program folder names and locations listed by program:

C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks

Next, configure Windows to show all files.

1. Click on "Windows Key" and select Control Panel
2. Double click on Folder options.
3. Click on View Tab
4. Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
5. Under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show hidden files and folders."
6. Click on Apply
7. Click on OK.

Now, search for and delete all Symantec folders.

1. Click on "Windows Key" and select Computer.
2. Double click on C Drive
3. Go to the following locations and delete the following folders.

c:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
C:\ProgramData\Symantec

- Now delete all the 3 folders.

Finish by cleaning up the Registry:

CAUTION: you must back up the registry before you make
any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent
data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the keys that are specified.

1. Click Start and then Run.
2. Type REGEDIT into the Run dialog box when it comes up and then click OK.
The Registry Editor will open.
3. Navigate to and select the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec

4. Press the Delete key on your keyboard and click Yes to confirm.
5. Navigate to and select the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec

6. Press the Delete key on your keyboard and click Yes to confirm.
7. Click on File in the top toolbar and then click Exit.

If the error message is still there, go to Start and search for
SymAddln and if found one entry in C:/Users/user name/Favorites/Internet
Shortcut and delete it and reboot your computer.

I have difficulty in uninstalling my nortan antivirus software

Here are the steps to Remove it Fully :

  1. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Scroll down to your Norton program
  3. Click Change --> Remove All.
You will be asked to restart your PC. Do so.
  4. Now go to Start --> My Computer --> Program Files. Right click on each Symantec folder and select Delete.
  5. While you are in Program Files go to the Common Files folder at or near the top of the Program Files window. Delete every Symantec folder there. And, again, restart your PC.
  6. Go to Start --> Search --> All Files and Folders --> More Advanced Options. Check each option except for "Case sensitive"
Now type in Norton and delete each Norton folder from the search results (Again, right click, choose "Delete"). One more time, restart your PC.
  7. Repeat step 5 except type Symantec in the "Search" box.

The next step is trickier: go into the Registry.
  1. First thing to do is Back up the Registry. I'll be saying more about the Registry later. But suffice it to say that the presence of uninstalled security software in the Registry can conflict with newly installed security software and cause system freezes. So can folders of "uninstalled" programs for that matter.
  2. Once again, go to Start, then click on "Run". Type in "regedit"
  3. Go to the top of the Regedit window. Click (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Go down the thread until you see Software. Click on Software and scroll down the thread until you see Symantec. Right click on Symantec and choose "Delete".
  4. From there go down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and repeat step 3. Restart your PC.
  5. Click (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, now: Click (+) next to Software, Click (+) next to Microsoft, Click (+) next to Windows and Click (+) next to CurrentVersion.
  6. Select the Run folder. Right-click and delete each Symantec entry you see (if present). Restart your PC.
That should completely eradicate Norton Antivirus from your system!

Cannot unistall scrabble software ; each time I try I get the answer that a previous version exists

Go to start-run and type regedit. Click OK
In the registry editor click edit-find and search for any entry for that program and delete the same. make sure you delete only the key associated with the program.

Also go to the program files folder and delete the folder with the name of that particular program if exist

Restart your computer and the program will go.

This happens because there are certain software which do not keep information about uninstallation.

Thanks

hi im wesley. you might have a virus of some sorts or try defragmenting your pc it will also speed it up as this sometimes happens when you have alot of things on your pc and when you delete stuff and put files on all the time it slows down alot and can hang because the files are mixed up on the hard drive. to defragment go to start-all programs-accesories-system tools-defragment then say analyze then defragment.

My home pc trouble in windows xp professional

Hi chirutha,

Which version of Windows are you running? I would suggest running System Restore to a point maybe a week ago and then trying it again. You can find System Restore from your Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools menu. System Restore for Windows is non-destructive and won't delete any data files (music, pictures, documents) that you've put on the computer. It's also reversible.

You can also access System Restore directly from booting into Safe Mode (after the system POST startup messages run when the computer is booted up, press F8 until the Windows Boot Menu comes up and select Safe Mode).

If you can't power your computer down, hold your breath and then hold the main power button for five seconds and it will shut down.
