My Dewalt cordless drill, model DC970, is fully charged and turns. However, when I try to turn a screw, the drill does not move. What should I do?

There is a collar that controls the torque of the driver just behind the chuck. Rotate it until the drill icon lines up for full power.

Output power not coming

Could be any number of things but try this first.

Start the generator and plug in a portable electric drill . Making sure the voltage is set correctly. THE NEXT BIT NEEDS CAUTION as the drill will hopefully start to work.
With the generator running switch on the drill and spin the chuck with your free hand being careful as the drill may spring into life.

It may take a few tries and it may not work at all .What you are actually doing is re-exiting the field coils of the generator as if left for prolonged periods they can loose their residual magnetism.

If this works the generator should be fine just run the drill for a few minutes to rebuild the field .

If this fails you have more serious problems.

Makita instructions

Get the battery tested. The light draws a very small amount of power and will work if the battery is just about dead, but to operate the drill, you need a strong battery.

Generator turns on and runs but no electricity coming from unit i tried a reset on the circuit buttons, any suggestions

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly,

Since I don't have a model number to work with I am going to assume this is a generator with brushes. (I need your model number!)
Having said that... TRY THIS:
1. Plug in an electric drill to the output power plug and turn on the output power switch with the generator running.
2. Squeese the drill trigger switch and rotate the drill chuck as fast as you can. This will flash the field of the generator and often output power starts right away. NOTE: When power starts it will try and twist the drill chuck out of your hand. Just let go of the trigger and the drill chuck.

If you have an inverter type power head the steps are different for flashing the field. The easiest way is to do a male to male power cord from utility supply power connection and turn on the output power switch to re-establish a field in the PMG of the rotor.

There are other steps but without a model number this is what I am sending off at the moment. Respond with a model number if the steps above do not work and I will help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

How do i excite my 6250 powermate and where can i buy parts. Runs great but no power at all. Thanks John

One quick way to "excite" the field is to plug an electric drill into the outlet of the running generator. Engage the trigger on your drill and spin the chuck backwards. DO NOT HAVE YOUR FINGERS WRAPPED AROUND THE CHUCK WHEN DOING THIS. IF IT WORKS (not 100%) THE DRILL WILL START UP!!! Coleman was bought out by Pramac, you can find there webpage here.

Hope this helps.

Makita Cordless drill light stays on after releasing trigger

THe light will drain the battery. Your issue resides in the electronics circuit. The light itself is an LED bulb, not a whole lot of current draw. Your best bet is to take it to a service center and have them warrenty the board for the electronics. Can't fix this with conventional tactics. If the board is bad, they will replace it free as a manufacturers defect.

My craftsman generator model # 580.32672 starts but will not put out any power ive tried a few suggestions but nothing has worked

Look in the manual. There is likely something about field flashing the magnetic field. According to the Briggs and Straton web site, the easiest way to do this is to.
1) start the generator
2) plug an electric drill into the generator (without drill bit)
3) make sure drill is set to forward direction (if a reversable drill.
4) pull the trigger on the drill.
5) If the drill does not start, spin the drill's chuck clockwise (When looking down at the chuck from the drill bit end). Spin counter-clockwise if holding it like a pistol and pointing away from yourself.
6) Do this several times (hard) until the the generator will kick in and suddenly make the drill spin at full speed.
Be careful not to drop the drill or poke someone with it as you celebrate success.

My powermate pm0647000 stopped generating electricity.

Flash it !
Start your generator, plug a single speed drill into the recepticle, while the generator is running make sure the drill is in the forward posistion then turn the drill chuck couterclockwise with your hand untill your generator power's up.
This simple fix " excites " the stator.
Good luck !
